dont think i got instagram til 2017 which is like 5 years after it came out. so tik tok probably needs to be around for another 4 years or so before i am going anywhere near that shit. i honestly dont see it lasting but who knows. i think it offers some superior video editing features to instagram but its mostly just goofy shit like boomerangs or w/e and im pretty sure insta can just adapt all that stuff into their platform anyway so i dont see it being around i see it being easily replaced / obsoleted by something else pretty soon

side note i am curious what it was that made instagram actually last becuase it really didnt offer anything facebook didnt already
the thing that really made me switch was that i never liked reading peoples opinions on facebook - instagram *mostly* gets rid of that and is reduced to strictly content. I NEVER used Twitter at all because it was basically 90% opinoins and 10% content (and the content is just hosted elsewhere anyway like youtube so really whats the point if you already follow them on facebook or even youtube etc.) Facebooks interface / ui just got super super messy and outdated. i realized that i really didnt care about peoples opinons at all outside of my close circle + family, and if they arent posting intersting content i really dont care to follow them. a lot of people on my facebook were just re-posting instagram as well. so i just made the jump and i hardly use FB anymore its really just for the messenger. i wonder if it has anything to do with stuff i touched on or if thats just coincidence

the reason tiktok is so popular is the algorithm it uses to suggest videos is very good. If you have an instagram just to watch skate shit, and lots of good skaters post on instagram, there isn't a compelling reason to use tiktok. It's not like coke vs pepsi or something.
