Bags you can wear while skating
« on: January 25, 2022, 07:45:50 AM »
Does anyone here wear a small bag while skating to carry their stuff in?
I personally can not stand having anything in my pants pockets while skating even if wearing baggy pants. I usually have a small bag that i wear when i skate to hold my phone and wallet but i am wondering what other people do.

I have a huge backpack with me all the time to keep all sorts of stuff in. Not optimal if you want to cruise and do tricks but I can’t manage long without my backpack.

I use one of these

Nice and small, tie it close to my body so it doesn't move around when pushing

I would recommend one of these. Skater owned and very functional. Plenty of room for wallet, keys, wax phone etc. and you can even clip your board into it

This. I usually swing it around so the pouch is on my back. Can ride and not feel like this is in the way.

Can't skate with anything on me. If a spot is too risky I fix my backpack to a tree or anything else with a bike lock

I have a Colombia backpack that packs into a suitcase or whatever really easily. I don’t actually do tricks with it on but in terms of just skating around it’s perfect. It’s super light and fits a tool, water bottle, wax, phone, all the essentials. Would highly recommend

Yeah these are the shit. I used to always bring a backpack but usually just had some keys, my wallet and my phone so these types of bags are way more convenient.

I've been using the Rover Pack Mini from Topo Designs. They make some quality products and some of the colorways are actually on sale rn. I can fit a reusable water bottle and megaboom speaker without any issues plus a skate tool, keys, wallet, wax, etc.

Can confirm, have one

Its perfect, I can pack a lunch, carry a couple drinks, put my phone and a bunch of other essentials in it and it never feels cumbersome or like it moves around much.

Women's clothing rarely has useable pockets so I got this little guy:

Fits a board on it with drop-down netting and straps, really convenient for riding your bike spot to spot.  :)

I skate wearing a book bag probably 40-50% of the time... I commute on my board so I have work stuff, my PAPR, winter layers etc but I also like to keep a skate tool and extra set of wheels/bearings/hardware permanently tucked into the bottom of the laptop pocket. I don't have a car anymore (it's more of a pain than a help in my neighborhood) so anything I might need for the day has to fit in my pockets or on my back.

As long as the bag is well made, comfortable, and has space then I'll adapt to it. I've tried messenger bags or those weird  fanny packs you wear across your chest but they're either uncomfortable or too small to practically hold my shit.

Another bonus of the traditional style backpack is you can actually use it as a hands free board carrier. Just take one of the straps and loosen it enough so there's some slack under your armpit, then twist your wheel in it so it hangs there, pinched between the strap and your back/side for stability. Any time I want to use my phone or have a smoke or something I just hang my board there, then if I want to grab it I just lift it up and wiggle and it comes right off. It's not super secure or anything but for a ghetto quick-release system it works fine.

Then if I want to "really" skate I just take it off.

i bought this sling sack from pop that looked real good to skate with - lots of pockets, body straps, not too big, shifted it sharpish when i tried it on and realised im a fat 30 year old englishman and not a svelte teenage scandinavian. looked ridiculous
