salt lake had a pool called deadman. a body was found in it before it got drained, and it was part of old "redman" hotel. only a couple of us didn't get sick from that water. also, we used to call the volcano at a park in colorado the "poocano" after someone shat atop it.

Wall Of Death is a mellow brick bank
ArsLand is another bank spot, Ars is our version of a Chav or Gopnik or whatever you have in your area
The old man manny pad is pretty self explanatory, theres an insane old man there that thinks he can kick you out of a public spot
Hamza bank is a local diy named after a local kid thats always there and usually a menace, but helps alot every time we built there
"the sad center" is the old city center where i grew up, had some nice ledges and a small handrail and lots of old drunks.
lately my favorite spot is "carpets", a downhill manual pad with a carpet store next to it

Humpty Bumpty used to be a rather modest bump. However it's gone now b/c the parking lot it was located at was reconstructed.

My hometown of Castro Valley had a set of fullpipes that were called the penis pipes. No idea how that name came to be but it had been called that since the 80's if I understand correctly.

Grew up in the East Bay skating in the 90's and had never heard about this. Rolled my eyes whenever the thread about which skaters are well endowed got a bump but here I am wondering if these penis pipes were sizable and therefore skateable.

There was a parking garage in Martinez, CA with waxed curb and some other little things that people called Monkey Labs. The story goes that some kids were skating there one afternoon and heard what sounded like distressed cries coming from one of the nearby buildings, so naturally a rumor was born that vivisection was being performed there.

There was another parking garage in Walnut Creek that was near the department store, Emporium Capwell with a manny pad and some waxed curbs. Everyone called the spot and its locals EMP as a kind of ironic nod to EMB. The crew that skated there a lot had some real rippers, and they made a video or two of bizarre but sometimes clever little skits interspersed with really good skating.

Genius . This something I should’ve come up with for this little stretched four stair in my town as a kid. Or at least something creative it was next to a pool so we just called it north park pool 4

Gold Bar

gap to rail in winnipeg manitoba...used to be gold when it first got skated by Jake Stewart, over time it faded.

Also Winnipeg:

Vagina/Vag Banks 2 V shaped banks with a small gap between them behind the legislative building.

Shitville was a big gap with shit ground I can only remember Brock Anderson skating.

Hoeville was a smaller gap named after shitville

Most famous spot the used to be known as the Red Carpet rail but nobody calls it that as the red carpet at the Woodsworth building was removed at least 20 years ago

We had one fucked gap that was called “big mama”

One kid in an adjacent crew did it. His name is Ethan and was in the MIMS - madly insane monkey squad. I was kinda in MIMS but I think we had subtle 9th grade beef.

A few of mine from Yuba were Butterlumps-big yellow speed bumps, the Yurbs-yellow curbs, and Polio-curbs with, you guessed it, poles. In Chico there’s Training Wheels-super mellow red curb.

There is also a spot called the gold rail in DC that used to show up in a lot of videos… social security/welfare banks also in Baltimore.  A old ditch near me called Finches because it’s next to a store called finches.

so many good spots there, marlo's hangout looked especially cool. Which spot is it?
[close]

If this is the spot you are talking about, then we are talking about the same place. I haven't skated much around baltimore yet but def looking forward to checking the more famous spots off the bucket list this summer.
[close]
Cool spot, cool edit. This is it right? (Screenshots from the wire)

[close]
yep, thats it. Still have yet to go but looks like it has a lot of versatility. Unfortunately like a lot of spots in baltimore you run the risk of finishing up at the spot and coming back out to the street to find your car missing or burglarized, so that's been the main reason why I haven't visited yet.

This spot is pretty much in the ghetto so yeah don’t look out of place and you’ll be fine.

First one I thought of was "The Dungeon" It's at the university library and it's on both sides. One side has an 8 stair at the top, a 3 stair then a 5 stair each with a ledge on the right side. The other side has two 3 stairs with a knee-high ledge in between. I noseslid the ledge and ollied up the 3.

"Hi-Fi" is the grass gap to parking lot that most people have skated. It's next to a car audio store.

"Big Red Ledge" is an old building foundation that was painted red in downtown. It's a 2 stair up and a waist high drop on the other side.

"Big Buck" is an old sporting goods store with a manual pad around the building, a flat gap and a knee high loading dock ledge with metal coping. Rough as fuck but skated there a bunch of times.

Poods - why is it called that anyway?
[close]

Heard it was the last name, maybe nickname(?) of a skater that passed. I may be wrong.
You’re right, motor cycle accident, I believe.
Prince park is named after a dude that OD’d. He was in the NS crew, decent skater. Has some clips on YouTube.

Always thought it was funny how generic some names are. Like red curbs or clipper or carlsbad gap. Just the most obvious names based on location or a landmark.
We never really had the funny ones like you guys.

Not sure if surf spots are eligible but one of my old locals was a nudist beach named sausage street because it was dominated by naked older fellas.

its funny how many spots are genitalia-based.

our hometown had “the boob” which was just a bump behind a store.

I remember the Roseville triple set is not in Roseville, its somewhere else lol

There was a DIY spot here with a white tile floor and the occasional few missing tiles from trees/vegetation growing through that kind of looked like craters, that combination lead to it being called "the moon". Here's a stock photo of it before anything was built.

And a couple shots of it before it was demolished.

Some footage of it from 2017 here https://www.redbull.com/gb-en/videos/moon-goons-sunderland-video
and 2018 here at around 6:30

It is in Roseville though, it was referred to as the Sacramento triple set for a long time but it’s in Roseville. Only locals called it Roseville triple for the longest time but that seems to be what it’s known as more now, which is good. It’s good to be specific especially since Roseville is kinda far from sac.

Depending on who you ask 3 up 3 down in sf is referred to as the porn palace or porn castle because they film/filmed porn in that building. Castle makes more sense now that I think about it.

We had a big concrete slab in the middle of the woods with a bunch of diy ledges, a spine and qp back in like 08-09 that was named Uter.

It got demolished and a little while later, a few towns over an almost identical diy was built which was considered the sequel, so naturally it adopted the name…..New-ter

It’s all good dude. But damn switch backside flip, that would be crazy. If anyone I’d say maybe walker ryan? He did it down love gap and that’s bigger, so maybe he did it down Roseville triple at some point.

The skate park is down the way from a purina dog chow factory. Smells like dog food everywhere late in the afternoon.

There is a really shitty skatepark in the middle of a canyon with a town on each side. Depending which town you’re from it was either known as ‘the puddle’ to one town for how underwhelming it’s obstacles are or to the other town it was known as ‘fuck-it park’… because if you find your self skating there you’re really saying fuck-it.
