Much love to Fred for sharing his story. I have a cousin who was in a similar situation, doing heroin with his mom. He's out on the streets now hooked on fent. I'm glad Fred was able to get his life back.

That was touching!

I feel like for the last two years before he got sober and up until now, I keep learning more and more about how far out Freddy was - and I kinda feel a little guilty about it, because I was definitely part of the choir, who was praising him for just being super hesh and being a reflection of his grimier skate spots.

...Man we should take care of our community! Happy to see Freddy like this - he looks so much healthier!

So good. We love you Freddy! He's been through it alright, that's rough. Just picked up his Metal deck on Saturday. Can't wait to skate it. Shape looks sick too.

That was heavy. Very touching. I really hope he will be able to stay on the straight and narrow. It's not easy. Very inspiring, he is one of my all time favorites, just like so many on this board loves him.

The smile / Ben Raemers Foundation interviews are always incredibly great with shedding a light on the dark side of skateboarding that gets overlooked so easily. This interview is no exception.
I enjoyed it, might be the wrong expression. But I was heavily touched by it.
Glad, that there is a platform for making mental health and addiction more visible and hopefully help others struggling with it.

I'm really glad that people are starting to open up and talk about problems with drug abuse, depression, and/or mental wellness. I think most people dealing with these issues don't really seek help, especially in my generation or older so huge props to Freddy for publicly speaking about his issues.

I feel like we’re not taught how to treat or deal that kind of illness. We’re taught how to treat a head cold or a scratch on the arm, but when it comes to your mental health, people are afraid to talk about it in an open and productive way.

hit me close. glad he's using his platform to help destigmatize mental illness/health issues. It's not often to hear a dude that any one who met him thinks he's gnarly as fuck to be talking about asking for help in a genuine way. Some life or death shit. Tryna save more lives than when pulling monks out of the temple. keep staying alive, freddy!
