Are the DC Navigators skateable?
« on: January 27, 2022, 06:36:21 AM »
I saw the new pop trading co x DC collab and saw they come out with some boots, does anyone know if they're skateable? I only saw one clip of John Shanahan doing like a noseblunt in them in the promo video but idrk if that's just like for the video only. If they skate good I totally wanna buy them but if not I don't really wanna buy a pair of boots just to wear around.
My pillowcase is made out of griptape.  That core enough for your punk ass?

I was wondering the same thing. I’ve seen a couple clips of philly dudes skating them on ig. The sole looks a little aggressive to skate imo. The boot looks sick though

Yeeeea I’m not so sure about that. It was like Bilyeu, Chris falo and big time Monty. All are getting free shit from dc and can probably skate anything. I figured I would be able to find a pair for the low by now but most places still have them at retail. Found a pair on Amazon for pretty cheap but they weren’t going to ship until March

Correct me if I’m wrong, but when the legend of Penny “skating in Timbs” is told, I believe they were actually a Columbia boot similar to these. I think I remember hearing that on a podcast anyway

Sorry if these have been posted here before. I was going through a Penny thread on a UK skating forum looking for clips and someone had posted these.

3 months later but more from that day

and the boots.

I think you have to be really in tune with skating to be able to skate the boots. The people who are actually are skating these would be the same to skate air maxes or something like a jordan 5. It might be doable but not easy

Nah, these are much different than skating in Airmax’s. Your foot sits pretty low in the boot/shoe. For example it’s not like skating in Timbs. That’s what you might think looking at the navigators but it’s not.

Like I said, my friend is solely skating in these DC’s atm.  And he has all his tricks  in them too.

Anybody know how they fit?
Want to get a pair but Australia only have full sizes. Not sure if 10 would be too small (usually 10.5) or 11 which sometimes feels like toe box is fuken long

I would say yes. Many people will argue boardfeel and all that. Which is true with puffier shoes, you feel the board less.. Sure. But I don't think it's as much a hindrance as people think. I believe talented skateboarders can skate in anything! Shanahan posted a clip of him doing like a nollie shuv crook with the Navigators on.
Boardfeel is a myth
Come back Adio, we miss you

After skating them for about a hour they felt worn in. They have a little bit of a thicker sole then most of the other OG dcs. The rubber toe cap is awesome and has a good flick to it.

People argue boardfeel all they want but we got some of the best skateboarding in puffy shoes. I have a pair of navigators and though I'm not planning on skating them, it definitely is possible.

Anybody with the experience?

ordered them a year ago TTS wich was too small, so like in DCs it's usually half size up for me!

My regular size in Dunks would be US 7.5, DC Cups is usually US 8- The navigators were too small in lenght in 7.5!

Can anybody chime in since experiences might be different?

Bought the brown/black pair solely for trails and dog walks, I skate the OG DC models frequently though and I've seen all the dudes mentioned above skating them once it starts snowing in Philly so it's definitely skateable if you're already used to skating other thick sole DC models. Soles are have a foamy feel and have good tread for the hikes so would probably need to get used to that, but for sure would make your clips look 10x more gully.

Just look up bighomiemonty's IG clips in them at snowy Muni, Adilson also had a mean loong cab crook in them too.

(PS they fit TTS for me)
