I was at my shop earlier today, I've heard of NHS's VX decks, but I know nothing else about them. I saw that the deck was $95. What is the reason for that, is it similar to a Flight??

Question to all my fellow chonkies on here, anybody got a secret to lipslides that don't break your deck? I loved bs and fs lips when I was still just a thick boned but lean 85kg twentysomething and even then it was risky business. But now that I've blown past 100K I've snapped fresh BBS decks just doing a backlip on a blasted slappiecurb. What am I doing wrong?

I can only do frontside lips slides but I stopped breaking as many boards when I started putting most of my weight on the back wheels. Doesn't really apply on rails of course but you might have better luck, not landing dead center on the rail.

Lisplides and 360 flips (landing both feet in the middle of the deck) were always board breakers for me. Riding wider boards seems to help also...

Lipslides are strictly for the very end of a board's lifecycle for me (6'2" / 200lb). I only do them when I'm ready to retire the deck anyway, and then it's a matter of time until they crack. Just broke one doing a FS lipslide yesterday as it happens.

I know a much heavier dude who does them with his back truck almost touching the rail and his feet very closely together. Something like this:

     |  |
     |  |
     |  |
______________
_I_____I______
     |  |
     |  |
     |  |

Works for him, but they do look kooky af, which kinda defeats the purpose.

Yeah man, they’re basically Santa Cruz’s version of a flight deck. While supposedly not the same technology, they’re very similar as far as I can tell.

5’10 190lbs 10.5 shoe.

I ride an 8.5 32 antihero with 159 Indy’s bones Swiss ceramics and 54mm bones spf.

Been riding board setups like this since I was a teenager and weighed 150. The only thing I notice now is when I do lipslides on a rail my board bends like a fucking snowboard. There is definitely a bit more flex than there used to be but I change my board out very frequently

Heyo!

5'11" height
210 lb weight
9.5 shoe

I rotate a couple setups, but my most "normal" for the purposes of the thread is as follows:

8.75" Quasi
Indy 149s
Indy hard bushings
Spitfire Tables 54mm
Bones Reds

I mostly skate curbs, low ledges and have the occasional, but increasingly rare, small transition session. I haven't broken a board in years. But I'm also not jumping down things or doing lipslides, so YMMV.
