This was a fun one. If you rip you should always skate the demo with the teams. If you don't rip please sit down and stay on slap.

If you've ever skated with like 10 skaters from any video. .you know how potentially crazy a demo is. Still one of my favorite things about skateboarding outside of guys turning pro, or video premieres

I remember going to demos when I was younger.  Haven't really heard about any lately. I know Covid has changed several things about the industry but are small town demos still a thing?

Yes, they are definitely still a thing, now more than ever.  In fact, there are many instances of possession, exorcisms, and other demonic activities happening all over the world.  Here is a Times article about it called "Shut Up Satan"

https://www.nytimes.com/2018/04/19/world/europe/exorcism-catholic-church.html

Solid chance the local town rippers are going to nail tricks ten times more impressive than a bunch of pros rolling into town who dont really wanna get hurt trying to lipslide your town skatepark 10 stair rail.

Yeah, that's very true. You really need the right park for the team if you want a good demo.
I remember adidas did a demo a few years ago at a park near me, I think Alec Marjerus and Jack Fardell were the only two skating the park (very heavy on transition) and the rest were skating some prefab shit they set up before hand.

Yes I went to two demos this year and I'm still intimidated by my heros.

Louie fuckin Lopez was smiling at me and I melted. It's fuckin fucked up because I was like straight up with Rodney and hosoi etc.

Lou is the fuckin one tho. Which is also weird because I can talk to (at) PJ no prob and he's legit the Neo of this shit.

I'd melt too. Ran into him, right around the time he got on FA (before official announcement). According to my wife, he made me blush.

On another note, yes, I seem to be noticing more demos popping up. At least in southern California.

Red Bull is doing some good demo tours. They call it the Drop In Tour and incorporate demos as well as mini best trick contests at spots.

They did a 3 day tour in NYC with a double decker tour bus going around the city doin a few park demos as well as tricks for cash deals. Blubba, Chinatown manual pad, and the Car Wash Bump to bar around the block from Spearmint Rhino were a few spots that were hit. I think they brought the concept to Japan and maybe a Euro tour as well.

There's this weird pseudo-demo-jam-contest type of event thats been popular, or at least common, recently. Not a traditional comp, not a traditional demo, but some goulash of the two. (Not really a jam if it's just the best 10 skaters you could book, imo)

Dime Glory, FA "Jam", that CCS car wash invitational last year, etc.

I think pro riders want cash in hand vs exposure and notoriety at an event like this
Wow sorry, didn't realise I was dealing with a sick cunt here

No. think about how dated “demo” sounds. some goofballs here describe a pro skater they like as “someone they’d hop in the van with”. Where are you going?  this isn’t zero in the 90s and you’re not asking the chief for permission.

demos were replaced by social media. they serve the same purpose. live skating events are dime, bunt jam, FA cop car thing, Copenhagen, and so on.

If a pro gets frustrated and throws their board in any place or time, it is a product toss. Grab the board and it’s yours

I went to the New Balance demo in Mooresville North Carolina over the summer

it was awesome. Reynolds, Westgate, Jake Hayes, Franky Villani, Tom K, Justin Henry, Jamie Foy…

everyone killed it

seeing the Boss frontside flip in person was spectacular.

I went to a demolition derby recently that my uncles friend was in, a lot of drunk people and some shirts you'd find at a Walmart. 6.5/10. I miss product tosses where I could scavenge stickers like a rat.

Saw some of the adidas team in Ithaca on my birthday (aug 26) cool to see busenitz doing simple ledge tricks at Mach 10. Got to see Dan mancina 5050 a long round down rail. Jamal doing the tornado on the qp was cherry on top. 10/10 would attend again

how can you call yourself pro if you aren't doing demos and getting a rep/notoriety ?  thats half the fun of it
