Out of control weather.
« on: August 23, 2007, 02:43:50 PM »
I don't know about the rest of the country, but the midwest, specifically Chicago has had some shit weather lately.  For like the last month it's either been like 95 degrees with 85% humidity, or raining.  Today a tornado siren went off while I was at work and we had to have all of our customers go to our emergency area or whatever.  I hate this shit sooooooooo much.  Who else wants to bitch about garbage weather?
First of all, I want to thank god for giving you all so much, and me so little...

I live in Colorado, it would be rude of me to mention how nice the weather has been the last few days apart from a few afternoon rain showers.

I hear ya man. I’m stuck in Lafayette Indiana right now, and it is the exact same weather here. I wait until 7 or 8 at night to go skate and still feel like I am going to die of a heat stroke. It is midnight here, and I just took my dog out and it was still stifling hot. My girl’s dad is here visiting right now and I was just talking to him tonight at dinner about how I wish it were fall. The humidity here is disgusting, I can not wait to go back to Pennsylvania.

i envy you. i love skating and having my shirt completely change color because of sweat, it makes me feel like i am doing something right. between late november-late april i feel like shit because it is too cold out and i always wish it was at least 85 everyday. i still wish this in the summer too, i don't know why you guys are complaining. if you "can't stand the heat and humidity" do what i do, bring a backpack filled with water bottles with you at all times and make sure that two of them are frozen so that way they are still colkd at the end of the day or if you other water is all warm just pour some into the bottle with ice

Mike, trust me, you don't want to skate in 95 degree weather with high humidity every fucking day. I stand it everyday (usually start skating after work around 6 to about 11), but it gets to the point where you can't even skate 30 minutes straight without feeling like you are about to black out. It's not that tight at all, trust me. Niether is skating in really cold, but we don't live in Cali so we have to deal with it. Grass is always greener...
You must be new to the Skateboard game.  This is real industry talk.  "It's all about who you know".  And that's real.  So, I know a few people that can make it happen.

i don't know man, i did have that one messed up black out incident, but i assume i didn't drink enough water to prevent it. i would be cool to see what it is like to be able to skate year round without a jacket or a sweatshirt instead of just four months at tops(this year it was even cold in may). like my post in the east coast thread, i am used to living/skating like this and i learned to deal with it but i think i would rather have it warm all year round

Last year was my last summer in Houston and Hace Calor! I would skate at 9-10am in a pair of shorts, low socks and shoes and be dripping Gershon soaked within 30 minutes and would have to drink a quart of gatorade and a minimum of 20 ounces of water to keep from passing out.

this summer in Houston it rained for 6-8weeks straight so I haven't even really been bumbed about the heat. but it's usually 95-100 with varying humidity. beer is pretty much what gets me through it.

I would have gone mad with 6-8 weeks of rain in Houston. When I moved to The Woodlands I noticed 98% of the people who used 45N freaked out when water fell from the sky. I would have lost it every day after work.

It's been absolutely perfect in Vancouver the last week but we had some kind of shitty weather before that.

Winter does blow hard.  I know in about three months I'm gonna be pissing and moaning about snow and stuff but fuck this weather man.  I work at a hardware store, and the town that it's in doesn't have power for three days because of the 85 mph winds yesterday.  We had people buying generators from 4 am til I left today at 6, and they were still waiting on another truck.  People waited in line for like 5 hours at a time, it was brutal.  I had to tell an old lady that we were out of generators and I thought she was going to cry.  Shit sucks.

We had a pretty rainy spell, but the worst thing here (for this time of the year) is 100% humidity with 90-100+ degree days. Even if I wasn't recouping from an injury, I'd still barely be skating right now because you get tired of slogging through after only a few minutes.
