this one time at band camp after a lot of drinking at that G'97 comp at Wembley, Koston was walking up ahead of us in the street and I shouted "Eric!" in a tone like I knew him, he turned round expecting a familiar face, freaked a bit and picked up the pace. I remember thinking "I'm a twat" probably the same thing going through his mind at the time, I count that as "met".

First Pro's I ever "met",

Sean Goff
Neil Danns - Swatch Tour
probably ABP

Salman Agah and Steve Cab at Slam City Jam in 01/02?? Was a HUGE Salman fan but the dude was such a pretenious prick. Cab on the other hand was rad as fuck. Steve van Doren was pretty chills too. Oh ya and I saw John "the MAN" Reeves going to get head from this hot chick under the stands. Didn't meet him though.

Ricky Oyola- made a comment about how nice my car was (my heart melted)

Huf- We discussed the introduction of the shirt I was wearing into the new season's product line, He then took a photo of said shirt

I got a picture with Bobby Worrest that later was put on the Dlxsf website. Much to my chagrin, I was locked in the throws of a mall grab. I still haven't forgiven myself.

Ernie Torrez- I gave him a high five, and then immediatly washed my hands

Bobby Puleo-we discussed the 9/11 attack

Peter Ramondetta- Nice guy, but dont get him started on gay marriage
if post- retirement duke nukem bagged that azz i have a chance too

sluggo - worked for him for a year and a while at centre, first sluggo sighting though was when i was about 8 at seylynn riding my mountain bike and getting in his way
alex chalmers - used to see him around at kirkstone and lonsdale from time to time
jamie thomas - he was checking out said distributor i worked for sluggo at to see if it was worthy of carrying zero in 2005
corey duffel - friend of a friend
rick mccrank - destroyed kirkstone in the snow, stopped ex-monke rider jason bailey from being stabbed
russ milligan - various sightings around north van, don't exactly know him but he's mutual friends with a lot of mine
moses itkonen - worked for him at centre as well, pretty intimidating dude

whaaaat?

yeah, explain
I was at a contest and all these kids were psyched to see rick howard.  So they walk up to him and he straight ignores them by giving them the 12mile stare.  They were so bummed that their hero was such an asshole.  All he had to do was aknoledge them.  I watched the whole thing go down.  Like what the fuck, is he just too cool for fame?

Met torey pudwill on the toilet at vienna skatemore premiere. He was drunk and started talking (I always thought talking was a no-go while standing there pissing) anyways, seemed like a nice dude, he was so stoked on our drinking age 16^^ also talked with daewon song about I donīt know what, he was so layed back I was stoked how polite and kind he was...

and vanessa torres..hahaha he is so fucking ugly and evil...

I donīt consider it "meeting" but I stood or sat next to ali boulala and bastien salabanzi and some other guys (sry, i was drunk) at mystic cup in prague, while they were smoking a blunt...

I met Donny Barley at FTC around the time they had that flatground contest, and he was jolly nice. He shook my hand and stood and had a chat with me; we talked about the upcoming Zoo video, and I told him I was stoked on the team they had. This was 2005 I think, so they had Welsh, Hughes, Pepper, etc, and the video is still surface!
I also met Paul Shier, Colin Kennedy and Dan Magee in Barcelona at the first spot Lewis Marnell skates in Nothing But The Truth, where he crashes into the bloke on the bike. They were also very nice, and Kennedy helped my friend load a film into his camera - he'd borrwed it off his sister and didn't have a clue how to use it.
It sounds well nerdy, but it's cool to meet the people whose skating you're stoked on and have seen in magazines and videos for years.

Once at a Girl demo I tried to as Mike Carroll where Brandon Beibel was, and he just looked at me and said; "I'm just trying to skate man..."  I was devistated.
First of all, I want to thank god for giving you all so much, and me so little...

A lot Ive just said what's up to. But the most resent was Tony Tave he was so nice then he asked me if he could barrow my skate tool and I didn't have one. I felt like a let down.

i'll raise the level of dickishness in this thread to the point of "check me out, i'm so fly, i speak to these dudes all the time, i'm so not fucking cool":

last pro i spoke to on IM - rodney torres
last (ex) pro to call me on the phone - joe humeres
first pro i ever saw skate in person - jeremy henderson

actually the jeremy henderson sighting was awesome.  he was trying to boardslide the handrail at the brooklyn banks 9 stair and i guess he couldn't get the right speed he wanted to hit the thing.  he went up to it like 10 times without ever popping his board.  then after that he would ollie, jump on the rail and then jump off.  this went on for a half hour and he was getting stressed.  i was kind of in awe that someone would be trying to railslide the rail cause this was 1988-89 and i had never seen anyone do a rail so big.  so anyway, he just keeps on trying and this new jack kid walks up to the rail and sizes it up.  just looks at it.  skates back, rolls to it, ollies, slides it, rides away.  first try.  no warmup.

that kid's name was chris keeffe.... soon to be element/zoo/capital pro....but at that point just a city local.

without sounding like a total douchebag it was at that point i realized a new day in skateboarding was coming and that there were gonna be some really talented motherfuckers out there. almost 20 years later and that shit still sticks out in my mind.
