Bahá'í? wtF?
« on: January 14, 2008, 07:27:38 PM »
we're having seminars from different religious people at school right now, there's a speaker from Bahá'í right now, and here are some highlights of my notes:

•   “the earth is one country and mankind is its citizens”
•   Oneness of God
o   The creator of the universe and Who is the Source of all the world’s great faiths
o   Throughout history, god has sent his messengers at various times and to different regions of the world
o   Oneness of religions: The foundation of all religions is one
•   Individual search for truth
o   “see through your own eyes and not through the eyes of others”
o   no priests, nuns, etc
o   are you certain that you are right all the time?
o   Human seek knowledge no matter the source – and she said jihad is a wrong interpretation of the Koran?
•   Equal status of women and men
o   As two wings of a bird
•   Education
o   No nation can prosper unless every citizen has access to education
•   Bahá’í administration
o   When you become 21 you are allowed to vote
o   We have no control of ourselves, we are finite, god controls us
o   But the institutions are in place to govern?
•   Nature of man
o   Evil is just the absence of good (there is no evil, satan, hell or heaven)
•   Through afterlife they get closer to god, but like getting closer to the sun if we were to reach it we would “explode”?!?!?!?!?

the notes don't really grasp how STUPID this thing sounds. dumb hippies at their finest.
they believe the one god sent different messengers at different times to send different messages to different people, and that “world peace is not only possible but inevitable”

what. the. fuck.
that makes no sense.
so god created virtually all the world's wars... to create unity and harmony?

anyone else ever heard of this????

vote for bahai leader or something
just the way they try and make everything pretty and beautiful, they say noone is evil and in the end were all going to be happy
its just so delusional and i guess i understand why people would want to believe it just doesnt make any sense.
everything she said was contradictory to something else she said.

you might have run into someone who had a bad way of explaining the religion...    the cool thing about the bahai is that they are totally against prosyletizing (ie: trying to convert people).  they dont expect their children to follow their relgion, they dont go out knocking on doors or anything...   they only explain their relgion to people who walk into their centres, or, as in this case, when they are invited to talk about relgions, spiritualities and so forth
