Sebastian, did you read that book about that guy who cut down the albino tree the Haida really liked?  That guy was hardcore.

I just got that documentary of the bear guy in Alaska who loved grizzly's then gets killed by them.  Pretty excited to
watch it.

i was just about to make a post about grizzly man. that documentary is fucking gnarly, and funny at the same time when he has a fucking breakdown about his foxes or rabbits or whatever it was that he named and they got killed.

no, i havent.  i thought he was a bit of a head case?

try to DL the documentary "project grizzly" and watch it in conjunction with that alaska story...   its a wicked pairing.

and check this out...   i dont like crime stories but it involves one of the wildest, most isolated parts of north america (northernmost british columbia), and i picked it up one time in a used bookstore, started flipping hrough, and ended up reading the entire thing end to end...

The guy was definitely crazy but his logic made sense in a messed up way.  Basically he didn't like that tree being venerated while thousands of trees around it were being logged.  He was trying to make the point that all trees are sacred he just didn't do it very well.

But he was a great outdoorsman.  He worked as a scout for timber companies for a long time.

Yeah, it was pretty brief and I restrained myself from going into it more.  But I am just sitting here waiting for a 3D model to finish printing so it is going to be hard.

well that was easy.
http://www.igorilla.com/gorilla/animal/2002/cougar_attack_vancouver.html

i saw one north of pemberton when i was about 12.  it ran across the road in front of my family while we were driving on a camping trip.  it was the first my dad had ever seen, and he was raised in revelstoke and had worked in the bush for most of his youth.  it was incredible...    it always bums me out when one gets killed, or turns to attacking a human because it cant get enough of its proper prey (deer).  a friend wrote an article on how there used to be big government bounties on cougars on vancouver island...

anyone who can spend more than 2 days in merritt is clearly either a homicidal maniac or dudes like this guy. every storefront in merritt has murals of country music superstars like this one

and also, theres a cougar loose on the golfcourse i live on and i have to walk to campus with my little swiss army knife open, which means nothing because a cougar would eat my stomach and face without any effort. personally im open to facial disfiguration - it makes for interesting stories.

I thought this was gonna be another Doug Brown thread.

Now that I'm in it I have to say all that's gnarly.
