Someone posted this is the China wood thread but I think it deserves it's own.

Their website has been under construction for over a year but now it looks like it's up and running.

Looks like everything they do is pressed in Mexico.

To the best of my understanding, DLX and KAYO are two of their biggest clients.

No wonder dna and kayo boards suck equally. They're made by the same people.

yeah.  You can see Alien and Blueprint graphics on the wall in the background.  I knew Alien was getting some decks done in Mexico but never thought it was Bareback.  Don't know how I feel about that.

It actually started as a longboard company originally and they started pressing regular skateboards and just kept the name.

So if you don't like skate decks getting pressed in China and Mexico, where would rather see them made? The US?

Canada  ;D  there's still at least 10 woodshops in Canada and USA.  I guess the profit margin just isn't as good as a deck from Mexico or China.  In Bareback's about section, he says decks from China are half the cost of their USA decks.  Now that they have moved their factory to Mexico, I'm sure they're more competitive and affordable but I have a feeling it's still not half the cost.

What I don't understand is how Deluxe boards kick so much ass yet the Kayo and Sect stuff is total shit while they all come from the same place. Can someone explain this to me? Different grades of wood maybe?

At this point, it doesn't matter to me so long it's in North America.

For real....I like Kayo decks (the DGK ones I skated were cool anyways) but the few Alien boards I road were shit. I told myself I would never skate them again....

for my money the best boards come out of Generator, PS Stix and the ABC/ACME shop. never had a problem with any of their boards. had a couple that came from Prime that were a little soggy after only a couple weeks but that might have been because i left my board in the car on a couple hot days.

Generator/Bareback is the same thing.

Not sure what's up with ABC/Acme.  Their website's been down for a little while now.

I'm pretty sure PS Stix has moved all their presses to China and Mexico.

I think the comment earlier about the pro model being a dude you're stoked on vs. someone you're not and both decks being from the same factory and press... It's all in your head.  Who cares though.  As long as it works for you.
