Can't believe people used to smoke that shit during the 40s and 50s. Since there's no filter, you could smoke 100% of the cigarette and leave no butt. My theater teacher back in high school told me a story about how when he was in school during the 50s, they would have classes that taught things like smoking ettiquete. They'd also have smoking lounges for students (had them well up into the late 70s I think). Anyways, he had an art teacher that would be chain smoking while lecturing, and when he was almost done with the cigarette, he would put the 'roach' between his teeth and breath it all in.
when i was in elementary school i remember walking into the principals office and seeing a mountain of butts in the ashtray on his desk. it was so high that it was intimidating to look over at it when i had to talk with him.
It's kinda crazy how smoking used to be so acceptable. My ma told me not long ago how the Dr. used to tell her that it was ok to smoke while she was prego with me. She smoked Newports the whole time she was preggers.
