I bought some Vox Destroyers or Punishers or something like that, bulkish cupsoles anyway, some years ago, and I didn't like them at all. Wouldn't mind trying the newer slimmer ones though, like the Monos or Deuces.

Pricepoint shoes are a great idea too. Some shops might try to sell them full price though to get more to themselves. Like when Arto's first pro model came and he said he wanted to make his shoe as cheap as possible because skate shoes are so expensive in Finland, but them because there was a Finnish flag on the shoes, they were one of the most expensive shoes at the store in Finland. Elsewhere they were probably pretty cheap.

Maybe I am just overly picky but all the vox shoes I have tried on have been heavy, bulky and had weird pressure points on my toes.
I know one of the backers for vox that left, he works for elwood now.He never told any specific stories but it didn't sound good.
I wish they could get there shoes up to par.

Which Arto shoe had a Finnish flag on them? éS or Etnies shoe? Don't remenber this one.

wow trying to think of the last time i bought skate brand stuff...

lets see last shoes i bought were nikes + adidas at the same time buy one get one free
then before that adidas just 1 pair
then 2 pairs of adidas at the same time same buy one get one free deal
then a pair of adidas before that

then last summer i think i had ripzones, adidas, nike, and globe, all for under 30$ each. the globes were only 10$ and they were some of the best shoes i ever had. i had 3 other pairs of globes probably between 00-03 and the first two were not bad but the danny gonzales 150$ ones i bought totally turned me off them. they got ruined so fucking fast, and on old grip to boot.

then i dont remember what i had before that, probably ipaths, i had a lot of those but the final pair i bought will be the last pair i ever buy. the quality hit the shitter once timbo stepped in.

i had every company before that, i bought at least a couple pairs each, and i can safely say like around 2003-2004 every company started putting out complete crap so i decided just to switch to bargain brands. i had so many emericas and after the first ellington came out all their shoes got soooo crappy. the tosh townend mj ripoffs were super good then after that everything sucked that i got. same with es, i had like 5 pairs of accels then the 6th pair, i think they were "Accelerates" or something, i forget i have had so many, they were straight diarhea out of my dick.

If I recall correctly, his first éS shoe had a little flag in either the bottom of the sole or inside the tongue. Something like that. Anyway the point was just that he was probably the first Finn to get a pro shoe on a big company, so of course everyone would want that shoe in Finland. Flag or no flag.

OK now I remember that one. It wasn't a huge hit in Finland. If I remember right it really was too expensive. Other than his first Etnies shoe. I bet every Finnish skater had a pair of those at some point. Some of the shops still carry them, meaning that the orders were HUGE for a couple of years and the tails of those orders still haunt as ghost at the back of some warehouses, hehee!

Yes, and doesn't Etnies still make that one under the name "Team 1" or something?
