Anyone down to skate this weekend? Have been in Oakland 3 weeks now, haven't really skated anything but ledges, hills, and an elementary school. Anybody down to show a new guy around??

my friend told me rob dyrdek just built a skate plaza by castlemont high school in east oakland. not open yet, but skateable on the weekends apparently. i wanna go check it out.

Just know, the neighborhood that Castlemont is in is really sketchy. Castlemont is the most probably the most fucked up school in Oakland.

I'm fairly accustomed to Oakland so far. I've just realized muggings, random fights in the middle of intersections, and near shootings are a part of my daily life...haha

Oh definitely. I'm just saying, you may be in a bad neighborhood, but this one is one of the worst in Oakland. Which is rad for the kids of Oakland though. Dyrdek just earned a lot of points in my book if that's true.

Just go during the day, go straight there, and if kids start fucking with you, just leave, even if they are little kids.

It would still probably be more worth your while to go to the sunset in SF and just explore randomly. Spots like that are only in SF, street plazas are cool if you are local, but kind of generic to visit from out of town.
