Anyone using Rock'n Ron's or Swissfire?
« on: June 22, 2010, 11:33:50 AM »
Either of these two comparable to Bones Swiss? Looking to replace my 6- balls, they're starting to slow down and a cleaning didn't help, so...

I've still got some Rock'n Ron's bearings (ceramic and regular).  I don't know where you can order them anymore, but they're better than swiss in my opinion.  Ron knows bearings.

i looked up rockin ron once because of the about.com hype and apparently rockin ron is only doing limited runs of it now because of the economy. it was on one of those old dude vert forums where he posts.

EDIT: I looked it up again and found this:

Hey Guys....
RocknRons Bearings are returning in January 2010. I had to take a year off for a side project I really wanted to do but I have thousands of bearings in stock and will be building my new site this week. The new website will be:

www.kickassbearings.com

My old skatetechnology url will forward to kickassbearings.com
There will be a couple of changes to make things work easier for me but you will be able to buy them off my website and a few selected skateshops.

I just need to set up a few things still and need a couple more weeks to get it all going. Most likly I will launch everything on January 1st. There are no plans for me to take time off again. After 23 years with bearings, I had an opportunity I coulnt pass on and basically needed the year off to learn more mechanical engineering.
It was great ! But time to get back to skateboarding, skateboard bearings and wheels !

I've been hearing the hype about Ron's bearings for awhile now, which is why I'm so interested in trying out a pair. 28 bucks for bearings that I'm assuming are swiss quality might get me to pull the trigger...
Dlx makes quality shit though, hence the reason for wanting to try out the Swissfire's.

you should just go for it, swiss stole the idea of labyrinth shields from him and a bunch of other shit and he does the whole thing independently.

I was just trying to figure out where to get some ron's yesterday. Doesn't look like you can order any on his site. Riding bones swiss right now but they're on their way out... two fell apart when I tried to clean them so now I'm rocking two reds in their place. Never had bearings last me as long as ron's, and I couldn't tell any difference in speed between them and swiss. The only difference was they lasted 2-3 years and I've only had the swiss about a year.

I bought some Indy 7s for 10 bucks at some shitty shop's going-out-of-business sale and they work just as great as Bones Swiss. I am still completely shocked at how well they have been holding up. Will definitely buy again.

That's what I'm riding right now. After riding like every bearing imaginable I found these are the best for the price, so cheap, yet so fast/smooth/durable.

^^^same, they've been holding up longer than my experience with multiple sets of reds, and still stay hella fast.

I had a set of Swissfires that were okay aside from the inner casing breaking on one of them. I'll probably just stick with Bones.

Those Rons are hands down the best quality...way stronger than bones...they invented the labyrinth thing that bones copied and still dosent do as good.

they also last forever

Rons definitely last along time, 3 years and still spinning good.
