Awesome craftmanship, RipGrip.
Probabyl no chance that thing will ever be made in a real run?

Honestly I could make that happen very quickly if I was willing to cut corners. Which I'm not. I'd love to see copies of these get made and sold to the right people but  I'm not willing to sell out and make a cheap crappy product. I'm working hard on getting these produced but it's gotta be done right.

Skills and good ethics. It's like having a box of best inside a larger box of better.

let's get into this deeper,..
I know you could get it made in a toy factory in Asia asap. But without the right QC it'll probably not live up to your standarts.

How much do you think one of these scu?ptures would go for if you weren't to cut corners?
I'd buy gonz, cardiel, and the new Koston in an instant, even if I'll probbaly have to save up a while!

I'm sure you could get one of those Japanese specialty designer toy makers to produce them without compromising on quality too much. I don't know too much about this stuff really.

I wouldn't mind owning a figure for the desk. Nice little piece of office stokery.

The trick is keeping it affordable for you guys. I know the average skater isn't gonna have a bank roll to drop on a silly desk top sculpture. Plus if it comes down to buying something like this or a new deck... well you get the point. So I've got to figure out a way to do it that keeps it affordable and maintains the quality that I want. As I've said before, I'm not doing it unless we can have our cake and eat it.

Well please at least consider getting them duplicated or whatever for us nerds. Even though it's not finished, I can already tell I would pay good money for the Gonz one.

And I know how hard it is to put a price on your own art, but if you WERE to sell the original Gonz one, what would the estimate be? I really know nothing about stuff like this and I'm just curious.

I don't know how it happens, but you seriously need an interview/exposure in Juxtapoz.

I'm calling this done for the time being. The portrait was a real pain and I may consider re-sculpting it if I can come up with better photos. I simply could not find enough portrait pics from back in the day. To do a really nice job I'd have to have clear pics - front, side, 3/4 etc. Especially for how young he was in this pic I just couldn't come up with enough. And of course the stupid pole going in to his foot really kills me but until I find a magical way to make him hover this will have to do.

yeah the portrait has issues. I really really really need better photos of him when he was younger. Had a lot of trouble finding any. If you guys wanna help me out, post up any pics of Mark from mid-late 80's. No facial hair. If I can get enough good shots I can make it better. Thanks

Awesome. Thanks again. I think I made his face too wide or something. So many of the pics I'm finding, he's making some gnarly mid-trick expression. It's very misleading. And the only way I could sculpt something like that accurately is if I could have him hold that specific expression and photograph from like 6 different angles. If I ever start doing these professionally I'd love to actually get in front of the pro skater I'm sculpting and take the photos I need for the protrait myself.

the only thing that always bothers me is the rail that keeps them flying. it's not about the aesthetic or anything like that. I just imagine the pain being spiked on a rail while skating. that would hurt badly.

anyway, I wish you all the best with your stuff, because it deserves a wider audience. it's just awesome.

I could see Gonz boneless/foot planting on a pole jam that hung over a bank.
I'm glad you took my advice and gave him a head.

Fucking awesome Rip!

Maybe you can get a see through fiberglas pole to hold him up, might be less distracting
