one summer maybe two years ago some 13 year old obese kid on a bike was always at my local. turn up late at night to avoid the heat and he was there. turn up really early in the morning to get a skate before it got too hot and he was there. turn up at the hottest part of the day and he was there alone by himself waiting for someone to show up. He had a home and obviously had money but it seemed he was there 24/7. He was that kid who tried to talk to anyone and everyone but no one wanted to talk to him. One day I was sitting down and taking a short break so he comes waddling over. He's listening to queen on some little speakers and so starts talking to me about them. I'm polite so i figure i'll give him a couple of minutes of uninterested conversation then slip away. anyway bicycle race comes on and he's telling me how he loves this song, its sounds great and is about bikes blah blah blah. Without thinking I tell him what the song really means and who freddy mercury was. the look of horror on this kids face was priceless. I got up and continued skating while the kid left. he was never seen at the skatepark on a bike again. he disapeared from the park for good soon after that.

at my old local, a fat kid with a bright green helmet used to show up and lurk with board in hand on top of the deck.  He always had a younger friend who he would be talking skate shop with, though both never skated.  Everyone called him Helmet, as in "Fuck off Helmet!", "Get the fuck out of the way Helmet!", "Helmet you fat fuck!"

whenever I saw him at any other park with completely different locals, the nickname and response were exactly the same.  anybody that skated in Sydney around 2005-2007 will probably know who I'm talking about.
