"What's next for "Epicly Later'd"?
The next one is Arto Saari. Then after that it's Elissa Steamer. By slowing down the pace I am going to do it for a really long time. I am not burning myself out. Even 15 years from now I could still be doing them. It's really fulfilling to get to do cool stuff."

Pretty sick he's planning to do the show for a long time still

"Over the past several years, Patrick O'Dell has become something like the Charlie Rose of the skateboarding world."

Nailed it.

O'Dell looks like a pissed off morrisey...

in a normal not so depressed-and-in-the-tub-writing-in-his-diary kind of way.

that was a good read, but i really hate in interviews when people go out of their way to say that they don't read the boards here. unprovoked they'll say "but i don't read the shit on slap" and they sound like someone who pretends they don't miss their ex.

you don't have to agree with us, and you don't have to like us, but you have to admit we'll tell you if you're fucking up, and we won't let you stand around and jerk off to a picture of yourself either.

Dude, in no way is he denying that he reads the boards.

"At first they did. Now I am pretty, like, whatever. I don't even look. Well, it depends. If I have some free-time and I am bored, I'll say, 'Let's go on Slap ?.' After one of the episodes I started reading and I was like, 'I can't read this.' I was driving and I was thinking about what someone said. I can't let this pollution ? Some younger people who are just starting to do things will get their first Internet hate and they'll tell me about it. And I'll be, like, 'Oh, that's cute. Someone is flaming you for the first time.'

Now if there weren't comments and everyone was like, 'Pretty good. Decent episode' -- I feel like that's kind of a failure. I would be lying to say I never look. But the truth is I look every once in a while. I am not looking to Slap message boards or the Thrasher comments section for my self-worth. I do appreciate that that's all there, because all that arguing drives traffic. But I don't need to go there to find out if I am doing a good job or not."
Like Daewon said: if skateboarding is a ten story building, Rodney is on eleventh floor.

As much as I enjoy his show, i think it's really unlikely he'll be doing the show 15 years from now, and it would be pretty disappointing if he was. Imagine if the dude at the chrome ball incident kept on postings scans for the next 15 years - it would really defeat the whole purpose of it.

"the preferred forum for professional skateboarders to publicly air their private struggles"

Couldn't have said it better myself. You see so many pros that you wouldn't thinking of seeing doing a mini-documentary on their lives. People like Antwuan, for example.

These pros are willing to participate because O'Dell really has created something that isn't a kook fest, corny, over-dramatic or all-around lame. The Epicly Later'd series takes a very uncondescending and honest approach to skateboard journalism, and he's the earned the respect, and willingness to participate, of many pros.

I'm hyped for whatever else this guy has in store. You can tell he really puts so much effort into each and every production

I still don't get the O'Dell hate. He's given us something completely new interview-wise and people continue to shit all over the dude.

Cards, Kalis, Oyola, Max, Billy Rohan, etc. etc. So many good episodes.

Kids, it's OK to into something.

I don't know many people who don't enjoy watching these. I think they're semi interesting to watch when I have nothing better to do at home. He always gets some pretty insane or legendary dudes for the show.

I don't get why so many posts in this thread act like SLAP shits on Epicly Later'd episodes. For the most part, any "negative" posts are describing how the show has changed how that particular skater is viewed, or saying something like "O'Dell should have asked him about so-and-so or this topic" (a phenomenon that will happen with any interview). Generally, the consensus whenever a new episode drops is how sick it was, how cool to hear these stories were, who else would be cool to see a series on, and how much Epicly Later'd in general is awesome.

Yeah, it's funny when people refer to the messageboard as a whole liking or disliking something. Then that becomes fact based on nothing at all and snowballs.
I thought it wasnt just him solo, shouldve stuck with my og thought.
