I remember in an interview, Leo Romero said that he wanted his submission to be all bails. As much as I'd love to see new Fred footage, I think it'd be fucking hilarious if he just submitted a minute's worth of footage of him doing other shit like he does.

I think that Fred, Louie+Jerry, Dollin and Antwaun could all put out amazing lifestyle parts with hardly any skating in them.  I'm hoping that the innovators over at Crailtap hooking us up with Gino's grocery shopping clips in the Pretty Sweet video starts this trend.

Manny Santiago is a killer! He's from Lowell, MA and that city is wicked burly. Lowell is also the hometown of Jack Kerouac and has the highest percentage of Cambodians in the US... which makes me wonder about the photo of Freddy with a Buddhist monk in Cambodia that was posted and deleted earlier. the post said something about a monk trying to burn the Wat. What's up with that?

I've been to Cambodia and did a short video journalism piece on it.  Place is crazy.  "Wat" is just temple in Khmer (cambodian language).  Sounds like it was just a joke about Freddy burning down the temple.  Wouldn't put it past him.

Did you hit anywhere other than the tourist spots? Siem Reap was a good vacation spot for the few days I was there but I appreciated Phnom Penh far more. Felt like imperialist swine when i was hanging out in Siem Reap.

Nice.  Spent like three weeks on Otres Beach, Sihanoukville, which I guess is still touristy but much less than the nearby Serendipity Beach.  Only place I really enjoyed was Otres and all of Sihanoukville.  Gorgeous, chilled out, just good endless summertime party days.  Miss that shit.  I'm still kinda in it though.  I'm in Jubail, Saudi Arabia right now walking distance to the Persian Gulf.  it's beautiful here.

Were you just backpacking in Cambodia?  Holiday?  Working?

I wrote/won a grant through my university to begin researching the effects of traditional/modernist Buddhism on the healing or transformation of Cambodia in the wake of the Khmer Rouge. I spent most of my time talking with monks at Pannasastra University in Phnom Penh. Did some work with a few NGO's, Empowering Youth Cambodia being the most prevalent. It has organized schools in slums of Phnom Penh to try to keep kids off the street. Lakeside School at Beoung Kok sticks out the most.
Contributing to the chaos of this trip were the evictions at Borei Keila.

I can see how it good be a great place to party, and i did a for a few days/night in Siem Reap, but I can't get down with using that country as a chill spot. So many factors play throughout my mind. I'll be back there working at the University hopefully within the next 6 months. My friend is taking his sabbatical in Phnom Penh this fall, so who knows where i'll end up.

Where you backpacking there? Is that what's got you in Saudi Arabia?

I'm here in Jubail, Saudi for a six month teaching contract.  I was in Cambodia doing volunteering with a small media company in Phnom Penh, then went on holidays in Sihanoukville. 

I'm filming a few short video journalism pieces here as well.  Psyched to film the sunrise on the persian gulf this weekend, should be sweet.

That's cool, man. Like I said, I've got a teaching job lined up in Phnom Penh if I want to take it. I want to do some bicycle touring when I'm back there. I saw some westerners loaded down with full paniers on my way out to a village in Takeo Province, it looked like some crazy riding for sure. I'm torn on this country, man. It's hard to not want to get down and enjoy the easy living but at the same time, when thinking about influences on Cambodians, I'm unsure if hanging as an expat is what I want to do. 

How difficult was it to score a teaching contract in Saudi?
