I was under the impression that he got better,  cleaned up his lifestyle (no more junkfood/partying etc) and claimed his girlfriend helped him through the whole thing.  Then broke up with her,  started living off of candy and beer again and continued to put out great skateboarding footage.  Now he has a new girlfriend who's super fine.  I could be off base though
