So here's a funny story about this graphic...at least I think it's funny:
When I was a young gay, probably 18 years old, I had this Hook Ups t-shirt. It was heather grey. Anyway, I was newly out and had just been kicked out of the family for my sexuality, so I took to hanging out at the "cruise area" in Albuquerque, a place called Morningside Park. There was a group of Native American drag prostitutes that hung out there all the time and I started following them around. It's funny 'cause some days I'd go there and find them all passed out in the grass, face down, with empty bottles of Peppermint Schnapps everywhere...I'd just sit there and wait for them to all come to. The day I wore that shirt one of them said, "OMG that's Menmei."(sounds like men may) From that day forward all the Native American prostitutes called me Menmei.
Several years later...10 or 15 probably...after I'd moved on with my life I was back in Albuquerque visiting the fam and I decided to check out the local gay bar. Can't remember the name of it...Pulse, I think. Anyway, I was sitting there chilling and I hear "MENMEI!" It was one of those dudes. He proceeded to tell me who was still alive and who was dead.
I always thought that it was funny that I owed my early-queer-days cruise area drunk prostitute nickname to this graphic.
