Bones SPF 81B
« on: November 08, 2014, 08:29:56 AM »
Anybody know whats up with these? http://socalskateshop.com/index.php?l=product_detail&p=51238 Just wondering how they feel and if they slide etc. At 81B that seems like they would clock in around 101A which might be pretty sick for Bones.

I had some of the 84B (104a), and they were the grippiest wheels I have ever skated. I don't know how they can make that hard of a wheel grip so much. These are probably even grippier.

It usually does but the material bones and other brands use that are b scale rated is more of a compound than a urethane, hence the milky color. They share common characteristics with a standard urethane wheel but feel alot different and they can tinker with it a little more.

I wish all wheel companies would use standard ratings for hardness.

Also a standard measurement for trucks.

Finally, having shoes which also vary wildly is pretty confusing.

If you want hard grippy wheels though, I'd go with Spitfire formula 4's. Similar to Bones but grip more (too much for me...).

I have some of these and they are awesome. I usually toss my PFC wheels on when skating street, and those slide great, but skating skatelite surfaced mini or cement parks I was sticking really bad on fs tailslides. Once I put SPF's back on there was no more sticking. I'm not a fan of Powell but man they make some great wheels. On top of great performance, the formula doesn't discolor like most urethane; white wheels are true white and even after a few months they hold that shade instead of turning mustardy brownish-yellow.

The 84bs felt like shit on anything other than smooth skateparks but in parks they were super fast with a good slip to grip ratio. Hopefully these new softer ones will feel better on the streets.

SPF now in 104a and 101a. That means that STF will be available in 103a and 99a. Nice move. I'm still sticking with my F4s tho.

No way! I've skated both the 101 and the 99 and they both slid very well. The 99 gripped more, but nothing compared to the SPF's.
