The only time I consider paying more than 100$ is for air max 90's.  Lately it seems like all they put out are wacky ass bright neon runner colorways.  I'll pay extra for plain.  For skateshoes? hell no.  You can find good shoes for cheap.  Most of the time 6pm.com has lakai for 30 bucks

I have: the Free SB, Koston Huarache, original ADV, and the Figgys. (Ton of others but these are previously mentioned)

They are all lightweight grippy thin shoes with a single piece toe and perform exactly the same, but the Figgys are the best-looking. Don't pay more than 80 for a pair of skate shoes. Nothing beats the "new" Bruin anyways. Get those while you can.

A friend of mine just bought the SB Free's after getting his tax return, and said they weren't what he expected. the suede is very thin and after two weeks i can see where it is about to rip through. He also said that the sole isn't very grippy and he feels like his flick slips off too easy.

I've only bought the Gatos on sale too but god damn those are some good shoes. The only Nikes I've skated in years and would definitely skate more. They're well under $120 being priced at $90 and they're so good they're almost worth $90

The frees might be the best shoe I have skated in awhile.

there's many colors and sizes for 45 bucks on SPoTs site.  they are very, very good shoes.

Depends on why you're buying them. Functionally, hell no. But anything is worth what you're willing to pay for it. If you want the shoes and can afford them and shoes are your shit, go ahead. I would never spend that on a pair of shoes, but shoes aren't an interest of mine. If they were, I probably would spend that on them and I spend way more than that on other frivolous garbage so I'm in no place to judge someone who does.

In my honest opinion, if you're feeling good about skating it doesn't matter what shoes you're wearing - you'll get used to them and skate well. And as mentioned by someone else, you can get a 60-70 dollar pair of shoes that will last you just as long so durability probably shouldn't be a huge factor here.

Thanks for sure! On the Nike site they're like $60 and when they had a sale I go them for $45 too. The soles wear out before the suede so you can skate them until they lose the grip which takes forever

Most I ever spent on shoes was 85 bucks for Bams first shoe on Adio, back in 2001. I was a naive middle schooler at the time though; I didn't know any better. I can't see myself spending that much on shoes ever again.
I just invest in shoe goo and buy whatever shoes I can find for cheap. If you shoe goo any shoe right they can last for so long. Even some chucks or era's shoe goo'd right will last a good couple months.

I only skate in $500 Adidas Y3's. Everyone's impressed, for sure.
