Nice. Cheaper than most places as well. Wish I held off and ordered a couple of decks from you.

Took a while to get one as they seem to sell out pretty quickly here now, but this is my version, maybe more a test and see, but it feels pretty good from the first little roll around on it.

Nice. You got the clear red bushings on there?

Wild how much of a difference the V8 baseplates make.

Yeah everything on this is a bit of a combined effort, you could say.

In the truck department, it was a mix and match with the newest Polished V Forged 6.1 trucks I just got, on the first and only set of the actual V8 baseplates from a 5.6 set of Koston trucks when they came out a while back.  The V8 baseplates from the Kostons and everything else from the V Forged trucks, which have red bushings.  I also have a set of the green low / loose bushings which I was going to try too.

I couldn't ride this at all on regular truck baseplates, in part as the China made boards have a shorter mold for the press and the deck bolt holes are almost into the kicks, so the Ventures just make perfect sense here and even out the long wheelbase perfectly.  It comes out around 14.2 now.

The funny thing is this wouldn't work half as well on a BBS version I have, as it would feel like the trucks are too far in on the kicks and ended up way too light, which is why I have been waiting for a China made board to come out and to try this as an experiment, more than anything.

It really works nicely though, so I am pretty happy with it.

* I also have some very small wheels I could add to make it almost a Cardiel 1992 era complete, but that is another story...

Here is a funny mix and match, with my old deck from 1992, with period appropriate parts put on it, which is up on the wall, along with the latest addition, a Huffer, with changed out wheels to match that era of the Cardiel 1992 special as per the other pic below.

I machined some old wheels down to 38 mm specials a while back and they skate fine, but they are so small.

Oh hello,

Question for you guys with BBS boards - what is the actual wheelbase on your boards these days?

My current China made Huffer has a 14.81 wb, like the old sticker used to show from a couple of years ago in the older catalogs.

Do your current boards have 14.75 wb or longer?

I know the China made boards seem to actually be way more true to measurements for a number of the shapes, as per the DLX shapes thread, but just curious.  I have a few more boards to get out to check from what I have here too, but all my Huffers are pretty old stock.

Still 14.75"

I always assumed the .81 was a bit of a running joke... reverse of 1 8... I don't know for sure.

I have ace classic 44s and af1 66. Is it worth buying a set of af1 60s cause an 8.75 seems like the best size for a huff

I guess it really depends on where you like your wheels sitting in relation to the deck.

An old Huffer I have set up as a cruiser has old Indy 166, so about the same axle as Ace AF1 66 - 9" so if you had only one washer on the inside, with fairly normal looking wheels, they would sit fairly well on there.  Big wide wheels might stick out a little though, but I seem to recall Ace hangers being a little shorter than other brands so they might actually sit really well on there.

The current version I just set up, I have Venture 6.1 so 8.75 trucks, three washers on the inside and Radial Full wheels, which feel pretty good, but I have pushed them out as much as possible, otherwise they would look and feel like they sit in too far for me.

As with any shaped board, the overall width is usually not so much the width of the truck you want on there, but I think if you weren't sure, you could try the trucks you currently have first, then if they feel too wide, you could look at getting other trucks.

I've used both. Classic 44s were a really fun magic carpet with small wheels as a tech Huffer. And AF1 66s are great fit in general but especially in bowls. Try them both depending on what you like to ride and how you skate.

Recently pulled a very old huffer from the stack and set up with some af1 55s I had lying around, and really worn down 93a radials. This thing is FUN. Would usually rock 8.75 trucks on the huff but can attest to 8.5s giving something special, and with small wheels it’s a blast for flat and curbs.

I got out three different era old BBS Huffers and checked.  All wheelbases are the same as these new ones, that is to say they are all a touch longer than 14.75, with two of them new in shrink wrap and still having their DLX size sticker, which had 14.8 on it.

Not a big deal - 14.75 to 14.8 is very close, but at least the silhouette of the BBS and China made Huffers are identical, just the mold being way shorter on the China boards, which I had known before, but this is also why I feel like using any double drilled baseplate on these China made boards works way better, way more so than doing it on a BBS Huffer anyway.

This has me wanting to try one. I have AF1 55s that are my favorite truck at the moment. Any chance you could post a top view of this one?
Edited just to ask:
What size were those radials when they started?

I would post a pic but I took it apart as I’m currently moving house so packed up some of my quiver. It didn’t magic carpet too much, just the right amount I would say, though I had three washers on inside of wheel. Good truck for sure. They were 58s, at about 50 now.

Look at where the wheelbite marks are. that is a good indication of where the wheels are sitting. Those dont look like they are hot rodding at all. if they were, the marks would be a lot closer to the outside of the deck. those are sitting close but still a bit of space. looks pretty ideal to me because I also dont like the wheels massively hot rodding / poking out. I like to ride my setups pretty even steven these days.

If I was gonna start skating these I would use T2 or Indy 151s

Thanks for the response. Was just more of a curiosity than anything. I’m probably going to set up something similar in the future looks fun!

Also, the above mention about checking out the wheelbite placement is pretty useful too.

Again, thanks to you both.
