wait...why is the rail different in the video
[close]

i see that too, at the top, right? looks like they probably cropped it out due to the big white SLAM in the background of the photo and it just adds to making the rail look massive. Still insane regardless.

Yeah the top rail extends out.  Probably photoshopped it out so the layout works.
example. i cant cast a spelll or love potion on a girl and she falls total in love for me
but i can show a girl my tv youtube clip on my or her phone. but there's a difference ok

That definitly doesn't count as a make, anyone trying to defend this as a make needs to get their card pulled

Doesn't count.

sais who?

He could've come off to the side and rode away, its all part of the spot. I mean its super gnarly and he pretty much did it, but that doesn't really count as a make.

Dude, he had one try to grind an insane rail with little to no landing, call it a baker maker and shut up.

And I'd also like to ad a Fuck off to those saying its 'not a make' so in some way or other doesn't mean its not gnarly. he looked like he smashed into a ledge or something anyway (that's how it looked to me from that vid) and he still put that to the ground and rolled a good bit Super fast. Its gnarly as fuck
I'm going to argue that Placebo owes their entire career to a Canadian dude's skate video part. Appleyard should be getting royalties for this shit.

Something like that, he's been around for ages but this is the first stuff I've seen of him for at least 5 years.

Hate to burst the bubble but this is 4 years old, the cover is from August 2008.

Not sure why its suddenly popped up again but I don't think we'll see woodsy jumping down stuff like this again any time soon.

I remember when I first started going to the skatepark in 02/03, Chris would always be there killing it with a smile. Last thing I saw from him was his Volcom part. Hopefully he is still shredding somewhere (NZ?).

as opposed to riding right through the mulch?

he means if the mulch wasnt there he wouldnt have rolled away. the mulch took him out right as he would have fallen anyway

dude was crumbling off balance as he hit the mulch.

So, I actually had 5 tries at the rail before the school caretaker came over and started getting really pissy. The spot is at a very expensive private girls school in the Sydney suburbs and we had jumped the fence to get in. The first try I stuck on the rail (who would've thought!) so I actually had to wax it. Then I had a few close calls before (kinda) making it. I like to think I would've made it fine if there wasn't a bush in the landing and that "off balance" or "fallen away" a few of you guys have spoken of, well, I remember kinda remember thinking to myself "just brace for the bush".  There was absolutely no way to land and ride around it.

Thanks to the crew who gave me props on the thread. Regardless of whether you think it was a make, a baker make, or not even close, it was rad fun.

As far as I know, no one else has done anything on the rail but I'm sure Dane Burman could do something on it. He knows where it is as he was there that day.

And yep, I'm 34 and I don't skate rails like this anymore. I work an office job in New Zealand and I mostly skate vert nowadays.

haha maybe. I'm a bit of a Slap forum rookie so I'm not sure I'm even doing it right.

Wait, was that a rhetorical question and you're just calling me out from your behind your computer screen? Somebody had to do it, right. Fair call.

Dude, you were one of the standouts at that Lausanne Grand Prix contest about 10 years back. Every pro worth their salt were there and you and Dayne Brummet were on a different page from most of them!

A lot of the tricks from the part you just posted were meant to be in my Volcom Let's Live part, but for some reason Dustin choose to split the parts. Kinda sucks because I could've had one fairly decent part or two fairly average parts split up....  and he went with the latter. Thanks for the props, homie. Really appreciate it.

Don't respond to this Mr. Wood. You are about to head down a dark path many have tried before.
