The comparison is stupid. Those dudes were all busy inventing skateboarding And your gonna compare those dudes to Bryan Herman who didn't invent anything? Come on (it's an art not a sport)

I'm thinking the same thing...I'm kind of tripping out all these posters have had conversations while out skating worshipping Bryan Herman like he's a god. I've never heard that once. Referencing Penny, Gino, or Keenan's ability while out skating, yes, millions of times. I've never heard someone say you know who could fs flip that set first try? Bryan Herman. Or you know who could back tail that ledge? Bryan Herman. If Herman is that good, in the god category, then I'd say he's underrated and deserves more attention.

Penny changed kickflips (which is an invention), but Gino and Keenan weren't really guys who invented stuff, they took what Mullen did and made it more stylish and/or did it switch. Its not like they were crazy innovators who were at the forefront of inventing new tricks like Carroll, Henry Sanchez, Koston and Daewon. Amazing skaters, with among the best styles of all time. If anything, i'd say Herman's biggest contribution is a bit similar to Penny's in how he helped bring proper hard flips back and not the illusion flips that were so popular in the late 90's.

I take it you haven't seen Snuff.... Gino has some pretty serious NBDs for the time.

I've seen Snuff. All the 101 stuff is classic, guess I've always thought of him more as a style guy than one who was very tech, compared to the guys I listed. What were the NBD's? My guess re-watching it now is the backtail-heelflip to fakie out, nollieflip-front nose, the bs nosegrind-nollie flip out, switch bs 5-0-heelflip out and the nollie heel-fs nose to fakie? Re-watching it I def forgot how much stuff was in it.

Switch back nosegrind fakie flip.... so sick.
And its nollie inward heel front nose. Mental.
I for one had never seen a switch flip nose manual fakie flip out either.
I watched that video religiously for years.
Herman is still sick though, super good. Picnic table section is untouchable.

Yeah, was re-watching and typing quick so I messed it up. Personally my favorite Gino stuff has always been the Chocolate Tour part due to it being one of my first video and his style in it. Speaking of picnic table lines, I've always loved this edit. Herman and the greatest southern rapper of all time is too perfect.

I feel like all of his parts are classic. This is skateboarding was the introduction of him and although he was a kid he still had great trick selection and a budding style. Baker 3 was him defining himself. Amazing shit. The Bowie intro, the opening line. Shit was too clean. Definitely comparable to Penny and them.Style is unmistakable. I actually made a comparison to him and Penny years ago. Reynolds just confirmed it for me. nThe thing I trip on most is the fact he did that hardflip down that 5 block in France first try.
