NYC: well lit nighttime spots?
« on: August 17, 2017, 05:03:36 AM »
I been living in the city for 2 years so I know a lot of the spots but I don't know which ones are lit up at night. I'm usually only skating during the day and a lot of my spots get too dark after sunset. I just need a ledge with good nighttime visibility tbh, but other spots definitely are welcomed if you know them. Light enough to film. Help.

I'm assuming parks don't count?  Because if they do 181 is lit and Golconda is kinda of lit.

Flushing Meadows is always properly well lit.
At least when you're a washed-out hipster douchebag in NY, you can milk it at some decent looking, hard to skate spots. In LA you're just a tan-lined faggot in a school yard somewhere.

There's a spot under the Koscuiszko bridge which is right next to a giant cemetary and which has all this metal sheeting nearby which bangs real creepily when the wind blows. I definitely recommend skating there after midnight.

The ones in green point? Those things are harsh, who ever said flushing meadows unfortunately they clear the whole park out at 9 and shut all of the lights off. You are a little hard pressed to casually skate at night during the week if you work a normal 9-5 full time job unfortunately.

The Applebees in Times Square is actually really dimly lit you'd need a genny if you wanted to film in there. It's an old steakhouse trick to make it more difficult to see if your meat is over/undercooked. Helps decrease losses from sendbacks and complaints. There's not really any spots in there though anyway.

?????? people talking about generators and shit, lol. almost every single filmer/crew in NYC just goes out and films at night with camera lights. should be fine.

some of the seaport ledges are uncapped again, go skate those if you're just tryna skate a ledge, lit up pretty well too.
