That's fucked. That dude didn't do anything, and lost both parents and now his brother (even if he was a crazy piece of shit murderer). He didn't pick up a gun like his brother did, he picked up a skateboard. A trespass ticket? Sure, we all gotta pay the piper sometimes, but held on $500K bond and forced psychiatric evaluation? Also, fuck this article for conflating him skating with the other kids caught with weapons, and indirectly conflating him with his brother. Its easy to condemn the brother of the piece of shit who shot up that school, but he's not the same person.

Here is an article that focuses more on the fact that he had been to the school multiple times. The skateboard was just sensationalism. Florida wants to take this person’s gun—if he has one. So much for second amendment. However, what is he doing at his half brother’s school?

"Mollica separately imposed a $12,500 bail Wednesday on a Stoneman Douglas student who officials say pulled a small knife on a boy she accused of harassing her and a friend."

Kind of crazy the same school and judge(?) but very different bails. Maybe there is more to all of this but from what is in that article it seems fucked up.

Edit: Had not read that second article. I'm a little conflicted, I know people are worried but the debate around Florida about guns has so many people talking about civil liberty and constitutional rights but only when it comes to people that look like themselves. So many people's beliefs are inconsistent when it comes to crime or personal rights.

fuck newspaper articles. a euro tm told gave them their hot lead. kid had been to the school before? like every skater goes to same spots over and over? groundbreaking journalism!
they don't sell papers by making it an overstep on our government's part, they sensationalize. that new law is fucked up 'he might be a danger to himself so we're gonna search his home'. bullshit, big brother don't give a fuck if you wanna end your life.
this is a slippery slope to the state can search anyone's home on whim.

Aside from the fact that nothing there shows the second amendment no longer exists, who fucking cares? Are you such a huge pussy you need a gun to not be scared of life? Are you stupid enough to think arming yourself will limit government tyranny? If you do, ask the Branch davidians and the black panthers how well arming themselves and facing off with the government worked for them. The idea that owning a manufactured product designed to kill has been determined a "right" is the stupidest fucking thing ever and has been both a disease and a stain on our nation's character.
The fact is, people like you clinging to your "right" to have guns has lead to so many ACTUAL rights being violated. Kids at that school have to use clear backpacks now. Fuck their right to privacy and their 4th amendment rights because guns! Fuck you NRA brainwashed murder accomplices.

That is fucking absurd.  does not even come close to passing the sniff test. it is probably one of the most flagrant violation of the 8th amendment ive ever seen.  it is so clearly an obvious an attempt to be able to hold him without a dangerous hearing.  i would be going ballistic. someone would have to physically remove me from the court. i

gun debates, bail/charges and all that aside, who the fuck goes to skate at the school where their half brother just killed 17 people less than a month ago?!?!  And MULTIPLE times.

i get it and i've done something similar.  In fact I skate around a place associated with sad/complex memories pretty much every thanksgiving morning.  its a pretty common ritual if you think about it.  people often go to the place where something traumatic happened with a loved one. it makes it feel real and forces our thoughts to process it.  it's the same reason why Hamelt held Yoriks skull.

No, take his right to own a gun. It’s part of the new law passed. He is caught in a political debate. Did you read the CNN article? It does not sound like he was skating at the school why not go to a different school but maybe they are really scared of this guy. All I’m saying is if he is not skating at the school what is he doing there after hours? Why did he say ‘I’m here just to take it all in’. That is a little of, no? I was just saying this is not about skating.

Dude has had a fucked up life, he lost parents early, dealt with the whole adoption thing, then the only person he had left did something absolutely terrible that anyone he meets will know about. When you are faced with the kind of situation where you can't comprehend at all, you look for answers, sometimes where the incomprehensible thing occurred. The kid may end up being terrible but nothing in the articles really points to that being a fact. I took his statement about taking it in to be him searching for understanding, he probably feels guilty in some way, not being there for his brother before it ever got to this point. Regardless of how it makes you feel or anyone else in the general public, this is not how the legal system should work and the slippery slope argument is not hyperbole.
