ok guys. pretty new to slap here. and risking getting kooked into oblivion. but having seen the investigative prowess of the pals really shine in the jason jessee thread, i'd like to harness those skills for something a bit more...light-hearted? it's something i've wanted to know ever since my pre-pubescent ass discovered mtv in july 1999. who are the skaters in mandy moore's "candy" music video?

in light of actual answers, i'd also like to hear which skaters you think would actually agree to be in such a hot mess. and how much do you think they got paid. and were they actually ams/pros. or just some hollywood extras that knew a trick or two.

pool session starts at the 3:18 mark

tre flip at the 1:27 mark. volcom logo on the grip tape?

frontside air in the deep end. is that an anti-hero deck? CARDIEL?!

and i'm not sure if these guys were actually the skaters or just used as the faces, but here they are nonetheless

I'm going to take a complete guess and say that the guy who did the tre flip was Caswell Berry. Cardiel is definitely the first dude who did the front side air in the pool.

you're right about the tre flip looking like appleyard, and he was on volcom for a long-ass time, but according to skately he was still on alphanumeric as of 2000. http://skately.com/library/ads/alphanumeric-clothing-there-is-no-i-in-team-2000

i do think caswell was on volcom though?

and damn, i was half-joking when i threw out the cardiel thing. doesn't really seem like his bag. but then again, this may just have been one of the most punk-rock things to do at the time.

dude - legendary! you called that. turns out it was max schaaf...and cardiel! WTF?! had to dig up this instagram post from 2014.

he also says in the caption that tnt was in on it too but then in the comments says nah actually tnt wasn't there. in the comments max also says "At the time we we're just begging pop stars to be in their videos, slayer agreed but that just seemed so cliché so we went with Mandy. Made about $200 bucks that day. Got so rich."

There are three other regular footed skaters. One guy keeps doing the backside pivot (thought it was Ryan Johnson but this guy's too aryan looking), the other bails the frontside air (Tim Upson?), and one bald guy with a wife beater just comes up to carve but has no other tricks. Jason Carney looking guy without the tattoos. Also, holy shit are those (barely) teenage girls provocative.

Also Who are the skaters in Ghost Dog? It was like 5 seconds and long enough to get like a tre and a shove in I’m pretty sure.p probably just average dudes who can skate alright I guess.
