When I mountain bike I always tear up my knees.  Tried wearing knee pads for a ride and never wore them again because of how disgustingly hot they were.  I’m sure shin guards under long pants will feel great, though.

I don't know man...last year I got a nasty "bone bruise" on my shin just skating flatground and ended up being out 6 weeks because of it. You could see where my bone slightly bubbled out at the point of impact on the x-ray. The whole thing blew my mind and was painful for weeks. Been skating for 23 years and never experienced anything like that.

My missus bought me a pair of those footprint socks with pads in them. I'm to cheap to buy more so with the laundry cycle I only wear them once a week. That day is without fail the only day a week I don't shinner myself.

Last summer I got a real bad shinner. Then I hit again. And again. It wasn't healing because I kept hitting it in the same spot. Bone bruise or some shit. Then after I hit it hard the fourth time, I was like "Fuck this. I'm getting a shin pad for it." Wore it under my pants, and man, was it one of the best decision I ever made. I stopped wearing it after it healed up, but would not hesitate one second to break them out again if needed.

I fractured my wrist a while back and got spooked, so I'll wear a wrist guard most of the time when I skate. Shin guards I imagine would affect your skating a bit though, but hey if it works for you go for it!

I've used a knee and wrist brace while recovering from injuries and it made the difference in skating or not so I would say go for it. I haven't had a bad shinner in a while although I have bald spot on my left shin where repeated impacts apparently neutralized the hair follicles from existence.

I honestly can't skate without a wrist guard, I haven't been able to figure out exactly what's wrong but if I slam without it I'm out for a couple days. I think the shin guards they are just going to be more annoying than anything unless you have an ongoing injury, though.

Try it, heal the wound, go back to normal, get fucked again, shin guard, heal, skate and so on...
