Milton Martinez(s?) - Lots of thrash her coverage, does some unquestionably big shit and has the sponsors to back him if they want to (volcom cons creature etc)

Tyshawn has a good chance too. As does Evan Smith if he can put a part or two out

I cannot imagine Evan Smith representing Thrasher after hearing the brainless nonsense dribbling from his lips on KOTR. Well, ok, maybe I can.

Thrasher is on a nostalgia kick this year. The could give it to Elissa Steamer based on the 30 seconds she'll have in Baker 4 and I wouldn't be mad.

Similar to Leo Romero's run where his previous year was so insane that if he maintains it for an official vid he's basically got it.

in 2010 Leo came out with his stay gold part and brainwash part. Had the grind up the handrail on the skateboarder cover (RIP) and had a thrasher cover whenre he boardslid that rail from flat first. Tyshawn's skating is childs play compared to Ishod and Austyn's skating. Leo was the only option in 2010. Tyshawn is just sick but not SOTY caliber at all compared to other footage drops so far. Theres no way hes gonna come out with something better than that ishod or Austyn part. It will be sick tho either way

Personally my top 3 at the moment would be Chima, Ishod and Austyn.

I would not be surprised to see Louie get his name in the mix.

Guess I'll have to wait for the Supreme video to drop because right now I'm not seeing Tyshawn anywhere close to these other dudes

Austyn for the feel-good choice, Ishod probably makes the most sense like most years. It's unlikely JJ will put out much more footage, let alone this year.

I wish Greyson Fletcher got on a disciplined clip stacking program to make him a contender because he so clearly fits the Thrasher image, same with Cody Lockwood. But then again, what's cool about them is that they would never play that.

I hope Zion will be in the running too.

Suprised Milton was only mentioned only once or twice here. Y'all are sleeping hard if you don't think he will at least be in the top 3 to win it.

Milton is the obvious choice in my mind for 2018 so far. He's dropped more heavy footage than anyone so far this year. Not sure if he'll finish the deal in the last half of the year without a full part dropping.

Skateboarder cover was 2009, the boardslide cover was 2011. After seeing some of the stuff he's done for web clips, watching him skate in person, and hearing rumors about what he's done in NYC, Tyshawn is 100% SOTY caliber. Just you wait and see.

What has Milton Martinez done beyond six tricks in the Cons video?

Idk i guess the clips of him just cruising NY, skating flat and over trash cans are so good that we’re assuming his Supreme part is gonna be bananas.

SOTY is now the “Who has more than one part?” award. All this talk about JJ retiring makes me sad.

Milton is a contender, and so far has the trick of the year with the death gap boardslide. He would need to put out a Thrasher exclusive part later in the year, which is entirely a possibility. Thanks to expired for posting the footage.

It seems like when I skater (and his sponsors) make a concerted effort to get SOTY and then get robbed, the skater doesn't really try again in that way. This is why I don't think Evan Smith is a real contender. To do what he did in 2016 and not get SOTY would be enough for him and Element to not push it like that again. His is the part I'm looking forward to the most in the Element video, for sure.

TFunk's banger in the Streetsweeper video was great, but he's gonna need to do a lot more than that. Baker 4 isn't even coming out this year, right?

Tyshawn is just so beloved right now that it is easy to see him getting the trophy while somebody else probably deserved it more, which is kinda what Thrasher always does. Those 'cruising New York' videos, while densely packed with tricks, are very very popular and not to be discounted.

It is easy to imagine Ishod dropping some Spitfire and Thunder parts later this year to build steam. Plus, he has the Monster drink sponsor to fly him to China to get enough footage for a late push.

Nora would need to bust out something a bit more heavy than the usual quarterpipe kickflip back lip. I can see her reserving the best footage for a full on SOTY assault next year.

Nyjah will never get SOTY. Jagger Eaton would get it sooner.
Warm Up Zone. Let's watch some skateboarding videos.
