Nah, DC is where all the hipsters have gentrified everything. There's nowhere cheap and safe there anymore. Best you find something in the Maryland suburbs, or just move to somewhere middle class in Baltimore, like Catonsville. I think your best bet would personally be Frederick MD. Kinda far, but it's really beautiful in the mountains, and the rent ain't too bad.

I know this guy who has messed up knees because of skating in Vans his whole life and once he switched from them his knees felt way better after every sesh. I'm not saying Vans are bad 100% of the time, but come on there are much better skate shoes out there. I skate Emericas btw...

I had these in white/gum. They were probably the most tech shoe on the market at the time, which is hilarious considering how simple they look now. Great sole. I got into skateboarding partly because I hated jocks, and bailed on DC forever once it was clear they were the ultimate skate jock company.

Tiago was the closest thing they had to re-juice the brand with some of their original direction. This Emerica reworking of the brand is a tough to watch. It does not feel authentic at all. Too little too late to appeal to shops.

yeah ive had multiple pairs of emericas, es and etnies and es were the best simply because every es shoe i skated was a cupsole so they were pretty decent, but the sole tech vulc soles are fucking awful, dont last at all. vans on the other hand are much better, the pros are amazing, even the classics were more durable than sole tech shoes for me. all skater owned brand shoes i skated were much worse than the big 3 (except for state but theyre painfully hard to obtain in poland, especially now with the coronavirus blocking me from buying shit online from different countries, but if i could id only skate states) and ive skated most of them because i was all dont do it fuck big companies etc when i was 14. that was 6 years ago though and now ive accepted that most skate companies cant afford to make good shoes or just dont want to because theyd sell less of them or something idk. classic vans models work the best for me, im used to them and i love how they feel, and if you dont like vulcs then try the paradoxxx, its a cupsole and a fucking tank, just swap the insole because the og insoles are really thin.

edit: oh and idk how it is in the usa but here i can get vans for like 1/2 of the price of an emerica shoe and like 1/3 of the price of a nike shoe.
