I actually had a zoo board a few years ago. Its Chapman wood, solid shape 8.25, no shame

their brand name its keeping them alive, not the brand itself

they sell TONS of shit on my country, dunno if they sold the use of the name here or whatevs... but I've seen hundreds of kooks wearing zoo shirts last few years. Sucks.

Chaz its amazing on the board but never felt related or interested on him. I wish the best for him anyways.

Everyone but him got kicked off months ago. It is no longer a skateboard brand. The last time zoo was worth caring about was when sal became TM and took the whole aesthetics team there. Ellis Island or whatever that dvd was called. That was the last time anyone cared.

What happened to Zoo is an absolute shame. They've made half-hearted attempts to save it a few times over the last five years (Zoo York Kings, their work with Bronze, etc), but it was too late. They should be killing it with a solid East Coast team and 90s reissues, but nobody gives a shit anymore and they're somehow even worse than current Crailtap. New York skating has been bleeding with 90s nostalgia for the last few years, but it can't even fully embrace its own rich skate heritage because so much of that history is mated to an embarrassing brand like Zoo. They need to shut it down and bring it back tastefully in 10 years when the stench wears off.

I for one, don't care for Chaz. Steez Ortiz on your arm? No. Verge of tears after your at-the-time team mate Malto beats you at Street League? No.
I forgot about the tears , if I did cry haha I would have held them in till I was in my closet at home hiding out

Only time I ever met this guy in person was a few times at an indoor skatepark in Illinois back when he was around 8 and I was 12. He was good as fuck, of course, but he was also a totally arrogant, petulant, unchill prick. I always figured it was just because he was a little kid and he probably grew up into a nice cool guy, but the Steez Ortiz tattoo and crying when your team mate beats you makes it sound like maybe he hasn't changed that much after all, because those are both things 8 year old Chaz would have done.

Maybe they saw the street sweeper vid and a light went on, followed by the realization that ortiz wasn't the one to rep their swishy reissues.

Seems like a lot of the negativity around Chaz is a result of shit he did or said as a young kid. I just moved to Chicago in April, but he is truly involved in the scene and skates with local dudes. Saw him skating downtown in person just this past Saturday night... he is as scary consistent and good in person as in footage. He was definitely skating zoo decks within the last 5 weeks but didn’t notice whether he was or not on Saturday.

I hope this is true. Zoo has been wack since way before Westgate was on.

DONT FORGET RON DEILY

He quit back in January. I don't think they have a team at all anymore. In Ricky Oyola's 48 blocks interview he talks about Robbie Gangemi coming up to him about starting a board brand right when Ricky was about to start traffic. It would have been cool for Gangemi to be on a board company with Ricky again, but both of them had their own name for a company and their own thing they wanted to do.
