Do uh Under Armor make any other types of shoes that people like? I really haven't seen them. Are they straight to Ross? Prior to that D3 shoe, I only know them for their awful logo and breathable sporting clothes.
Story I heard was the guy that started the brand had zero product made or designed, just the logo and managed to secure huge investment straight out of college.

Under Armor makes great hiking gear.
[close]

Ew no they don't!
[close]
Meh, a lot of people I know that hunt/hike love their shit. All of it. I've only had a pair of trail shoes but they were great. Ugly as shit but great.

Underarmor is the Darkstar of the gear community:

They definitely have a following but the quality isn't there. Not sold in core shops. The snobby outdoor enthusiasts would kook yah.

I would definitely fall into that category.

Am I like, the hiking version of Shit for brains?

How about that:

Dave is former pro skater Dave Mayhew. More importantly, Mayhew is also the guy who designed the D3 in the first place. He’s on the call, too, and between my questions, Rocky and Dave sweetly trade compliments. Rocky makes it very clear that this wouldn’t have happened without Dave; Dave knows it wouldn’t have happened without Rocky calling him up out of the blue. “Initially I worked on the shoe decades ago,” Mayhew explains. “I was just living my life, and out of nowhere got contacted by Under Armor. They wanted me to get together with Rocky and just kinda discuss the whole thing. At first I was a little hesitant, just because [the D3 is] kind of a gift and a curse for me.” But they got together, hit it off, and decided to bring the monster back—or the spirit of it—in a new way.
...

But despite their provenance, Rocky doesn’t plan to skate in his. (“You know god damn well I can't skate! I'm not trying to have a real Lupe Fiasco moment.”) Instead, he says, “it's targeted to be a rave sneaker more than anything, because I don't really like lounges and clubs. If you ask anybody, I don't even dress club appropriate half the time. If it wasn't for my celebrity, I probably wouldn't even have access! If you want to go mosh, if you want to slamdance, if you want to jump on people's backs and shit, this is the perfect shoe for that. You know what I'm saying? This is for fucking skate raving. Most of my friends skate any goddamn way. So it all works out.”

Hot Take, but I own two pairs of thrifted under armour chino pants and they were well worth the 10 dollars.

The one pair had the tag still on there which stated 50 or 60 dollars which for skaters isn't bad price wise.

They will definitely be good for some wheel kicks n roundhouse kicks n shit.

The blood, gum, alcohol, and spit on them is a mark of honor that also makes them increasingly stylish so people know you're hardcore.

Their sportswear is solid and I’ve heard the b-ball shoes are good but I really can’t see their whole aesthetic meshing well with skateboarding. Would be better off if they just created a whole new brand with different logo that was financially backed by UA

I don’t even like rap that much but asap rocky is legit in my book. Good for him for pulling inspiration from a world separate from his. Skateboarding does it all the time.

Price: $250

I think ravers would rather spend that on drugs and raves then shitty shoes that are quite over priced,

So, your proof that under armor is getting into skating is an article saying that under armor is not trying to get into skateboarding?
Way to track down the facts. You’re a real gum shoe.

The cost is justified by the absurd amount of materials put into the shoe

I really hope they are getting into skating, cause that will mean they'll lose even more money

https://www.theglobeandmail.com/business/article-under-armour-slashes-400-more-jobs-in-cost-cutting-push/

"Sportswear maker Under Armour Inc. will cut about 400 jobs, or 3 per cent of its global work force, as part of efforts to cut costs in its struggle to compete with Nike and Germany’s Adidas in North America.

Under Armour has been running a cost-cutting program since the start of the year as results remained patchy and the bankruptcies of a handful of U.S. sporting goods added to its woes."

I can’t believe it, but this shit shook me. I had a dream last night that Busenitz left Adidas and was pitching his new UA shoe on YouTube.
Like Daewon said: if skateboarding is a ten story building, Rodney is on eleventh floor.
