Bobby is a great skater (I still re-watch his Penal Code part on the regular), but a special level of asshole. What product was Forest Kirby trying to move?

I bet most people close to them, especially in BA's case knew, but they were willing to fully come out to the public and talk about it, instead of having it talked about as a rumor behind their backs. I doubt its a fucking marketing strategy. If it helps them move some product for being themselves, awesome. I mean, there are ridiculous Nike conspiracy theories already in skateboarding, but Nike/Cons telling skaters to be homosexual to move product might take the cake as the kookiest.

Also, those Cons need a lot more than that promo video or Steve Brandi coming out to get me to buy them. And Bobby's statement is absolutely detestable. Fuck that. I was a fan of his skating and even bought two victim boards last year. Now I fully regret it.

The answer can definitely be a major yes particularly when you're any kind of public figure. That's why there's a national coming out day, to show others that I've come out and that, theoretically, I'm OK.
