You can't "steal the idea" of playing skate on a ledge. People wanted to see obstacle skate on a similar platform the moment BATB took off. The Berries was just too lame to understand that skate on other obstacles would raise interests. I assume because Borra wants to keep up a misguided idea of game of skate purity and a sense of ownership over the format which is really fucking dumb because he could've cornered the market. Anyway, I'm glad he didn't because the Brazilians on average are better at ledges. Also, I do like the unorthodox rules of alternating grinds and slides, rebates on every trick set, and two rebates for last trick. We get harder and more creative tricks that way. They definitely deserve credit for that.
