Surprisingly, Minding the Gap made it on to Barack Obama's best films of the year list.

It was definitely the best of the skate oriented films this year.

Subtle nod to Beto?

That Andrew Gray part was exceptional, what a combination of skater and filmer. I didn't believe he was running that whole time until he cut through the grass. Wide open lens is cool too, especially those night shots.

Probably more that it was an Illinois story.

Bing is super awesome, and it's honestly hilarious to watch him film. He just runs with his camera next to the skater, but it turns out really well.

for anyone unfamiliar:

Holy shit that was cool as hell. Got me so hyped to skate...if only it wasn't raining.
Rest in peace Dick Dale.

Honestly, this is just the kind of film the skate scene needs right now.

Forget the hate and go back to what brought us all together.

We are all fucked up in our own way, but we decided to ride a plank of wood and get away from it all and perfect our craft in any which way we could.

And, damn did it and does it feel good.

Was just about to mention this. Huge ups to Bing and hoping he takes this one home.

Holy shit.  I hadn't actually thought about him winning. Or going to the show.
I hope he blows up and acts like he don't know nobody.

Bing's already killing but it's cool to see him get this level of recognition. I haven't finished America to Me yet but the eps I've seen have been great too. Kartemquin is a really big deal in documentary filmmaking. I hope he wins it just so more people watch his movie.
them cats are out getting mashed up to jungle, he's out mashing up jungle cats. it's just not gonna work.

I think the woke folk and sjw in the Academy are going to vote for RGB.

The Mr. Rogers doc probably should have been nominated and won, but damn I would be stoked if Minding the Gap wins.

for anyone unfamiliar:

the vignetting and light leak filters are giving me a migraine.  Like the vibe and angles of the footage though.
