so hyped on this one. I played both games, but I stayed with Skater XL.

Will you be able to get off your board? will be there be different animations for every skater?

idk session look like a better built game to me but i have not played either. i an still playing skate 2 dreaming of new spots

Session is really getting good, but neither have any real weight or speed to it. Until I can throw my weight into something, like a turn, carve, slappy, wallride, landings etc it's not really a skateboarding game, it's a trick game.  Still fun, but I really want the weight to affect the game, as it's a huge part of skateboarding.

Hopefully you can walk...

but them having Evan and Brandon is awesome. Can't wait. Haven't been psyched on a game since Skate 3, 10 years ago?

Been playing this since it came out.

Game is fun. Huge learning curve but once you've figured it out you'll be playing for awhile.

This game also isn't graphically insane compared to Session. Control scheme is the same though. I've been playing SXL more cause of the mods. And your skater doesn't operate like a tank.

uhhhh...

is it just me or did the game look less fluid in that trailer than it has in the demo clips people have been posting?

While I’m far more excited for session, I was thinking about getting a switch on sale to take to work and I think skater xl was slated to release on it

Not just you! People have been tinkering with gravity, pop force, flip speed, leg movements, camera settings in the modded beta version to make stuff that looks hella good.. the official game is still running light gravity and very floaty gameplay.

Any frequent players here? I've been playing it a bunch again lately due to the lockdown. Apparently the multiplayer mod has made some decent progress in under a year since it's release. Now you can browse servers and the animations for other players don't look as terrible as before and you can make out what tricks they've done.

I followed some installation guide that was simple enough to follow.

i still play pretty often, that's great to hear about the multiplayer mod! i was just thinking earlier today how i needed to look into that, playing SKATE seems like it'd be a lot of fun.
Look I'm not selling anything that doesn't have my jizz on it. I don't care how much is offered.

There's even in-game chat, so yeah I've seen a few people playing SKATE in different maps.

What are the customizations like? I tend to create favorite pros over using myself.
Part of why I enjoyed Skate 3 was being able to create 4 people.

and also... do you only skate in LA or what?

finally installed the multiplayer mod, it works way better than i expected tbh. i'm playing this game way more now, haha. finally got around to modding my gear too, which is fun. i like how now i can just open a menu in game and change shit on the fly if i'm feeling like it.

the LA map will be for the release in june i'm pretty sure. right now the two "official" maps are the courthouse and some california skatepark (i'm sure it's a well known one? i feel like ive seen feedback_ts critique clips from it before) but the modding community is great and the devs have embraced it to the point where the mod map importer is built into the beta.

Same, had the default look for awhile until this week. Something else I've noticed is when in multiplayer the game actually displays what textures other players are wearing which is pretty neat. I joined a server yesterday and some guy's were arguing over sports team apparel.

Preorder for consoles is up now. 39.99 so that seems worth it to give it a try.

Nice! It seems like July 7th is the release date.

Since quarantine started I've been playing the Steam early access version more and have really gotten accustomed to the controls. Still learning some nuances every day.

The mobile Skater game is also very good once you get used to the controls. Stoked for them on the upcoming release.

This dude is definitely the most fun to watch for me. He's a bit mellow (potentially boring for some) but the attention to detail in the skating and filming is awesome.

Yeah it’s dogshit until you get some mods going.

If session wasn’t so glitchy it’d bury this game.

I’d like to retract anything I may have said earlier.
A friend live-streamed his XL session and made me give the game another try. I installed go-to mods and literally cannot stop playing.

weird. there's definitely a learning curve, but i walked away with better impressions from my first playthrough with skater XL than with session. I'll have to give session another try. I think the barrier to entry for Skater XL is much more accommodating. And i think the stock animations on Skater XL are much easier on the eyes than Session.

what controller are you using? i noticed when i played with a Hori Switch Pro controller, the analog stick calibration was way off from what my regular xbox 360 controller does.

Really? which mods are you using or recommend?

I just downloaded maps and have been happy wasting a lot of time just playing through them. I have the mod manager setup but haven't downloaded any yet.

No Nike or Adidas is interesting! Psyched on Grimple (Evan) though. I see Dickies, Indy, Spitfire & Grimple, score.

To my knowledge session and skater xl will be purely sims. I know session has trick goals you can complete but no story to move forward

There's a new update to skaterXL, you can do pop-outs (more like nudges) out of grinds which also lets you roll into transition.  They also updated switch and fakie animations so you don't look backwards anymore.

Base game still has floaty physics and not all the animations are smooth yet but I'm happy with what the devs are focusing on fixing up and adding.
