watch jackass for a possible 10 second clip of skateboarding as your only hope of seeing some skateboarding on tv not from a VHS tape.

I agree with some others here saying menakmati sums it up.  Kinda an inflated time for shoes, video production and ad layouts.  You guys know there were good videos out in 2000 rite?  All I remember about that vid is horrendous slo mo of hubba nose slides.

Illusion flips were still in. MuskaBeatz type music was in. Slow montage music, emo rock was allowed. Watch The Reason or Modus.

People were already anxiously awaiting the Flip video which the title wasn't known yet and wouldn't be premiered for another two years (in Japan of all places). You have to understand back then Flip had the most mystique out of any other board company. Skateboard websites had just started gathering momentum and they provided only a few updates. No American riders, Tom Penny's Menikmati part was recycled footage so still not much new from him. Ali Boulala has a little footage here and there. Arto was up and coming after his eS part. There's this kid named Bastien who's tearing up contests. Alex Chalmers was this park ripper seen in the Transworld montage sections. Rowley hadn't had a part out for awhile but was dropping insane Magazine Photos/Vans Ads via Daniel Harold Sturt. Plus Rowley and Glifburgs popularity was high from Tony Hawk's Pro Skater. Growing up in that era of skating, that will always be the most anticipated skate video of all-time to me.

Tum Yeto came through Calgary at Max Bell Arena. Trainwreck , JT , BA , Ethan Fowler , Ed Templeton, so many more.  Best demo. Trainwreck destroyed it. I never heard of him before that.

Seeing a 30 seconds clip on the World industries web site took literally ages to load.
Transworld videos were the best shit ever.
Kids with Muska decks everywhere.
Plan B was done since years.
Wanted to learn so bad nosegrind pop outs in the middle (never succeeded).
Went to Barcelona, at Macba there were maybe 10 skaters including me and my two friends.
The Big four where still four.
Still no EU so in Spain you still had pesetas.

you could tape over your trick if you rewinded.
you could degrade the footage by taping over bails.
you could watch the trick on a little window of the camera but otherwise, wait til the video comes out.

word of mouth. spots had colloquial names like 'gagne ledge' and apocraphyl tales of gnar gone down. 'jay's gap' in olympia washington, according to folklore had been nollie bigspin flipped by 'jay'.
steve olson had 360 flipped of the maze gap at the capitol and so on.
no video library to confirm or deny.
elissa steamer and jaime reyes were the only girl street rippers.
It’s amazing to see someone talk about Jay’s gap on here. Also what the fuck, how have I never heard about Steve Olson 360 flipping maze gap? True or not, that’s some legendary folklore

Watching the 2-3 VHS I owned (411 best of 7, issue 41, Logic #7), and horrible rips of The Storm and Fulfill the Dream from Soulseek.
Heading out to skate the same 3 and 4 sets, curbs and bank to curb in my town everyday.
Grind Kings
7.5 boards which I would ride until they were dust because I was 12.
Thinking I was Muska
Transworld
The catalogue (CCS?) at the back of Transworld
