johnes' trick is a simple yet dope idea. made me wonder how the same trick on a ledge would feel like, too. after all, pj's b/s nosegrind shove-it five-o in tri color is based on a similar idea and for some reason, out of all the insanity in his part, that was one of the most memorable tricks to me.
grimcity you still kill it. i remember you posting on other forums (skateboard-city ?) maybe ten years ago ? you slayed that steep wall ! what's the reason behind the exclusive static, selfie-styled filming though ? limited window of time for skating making it hard to catch up with people paired up with not really giving a shit is my guess ?
glad my part above got some people stoked. the i-path cats comment is so cool, never thought i would get that, never made a shoe / skater's style connection before either but that's a nice one to have !
here's another web part with b-roll footage from roughly the same time period, most of the clips are 3 years old. i don't do as many step hops anymore and have tightened my trucks a little since - 2010 to 2013 i was skating with no bushings at all, then 2014 to 2016 was one bushing per truck. after my first 10 years of skating i felt like experimenting a bit and giving the most absolute truck looseness and freedom of movement a shot, going by the logic that if i could skate and do tricks on a board like that then i would be able to skate just about any board. i got so many funny comments on my set-up during that time period (takahiro morita stated it was looser than matt rodriguez's, will harmon would call it the dragster because at some point i had indys of mismatched heights, richard hart would just say 'look at this fucking thing' while taylor nawrocki called it the 'worst board in the world'). eventually i got sick of the extra randomness on certain flip and ledge tricks and slowly worked my way back to normal.
some repetition in the tricks because it was never supposed to be a part, it's just odd bits left over from (not being good enough at skating to be featured in) various projects. soundtrack by sean cullen. also featuring the worst kickflip i've ever done.
