Dollin reminds me of a friend I grew up with who I eventually made a conscious decision to stop hanging out with named Johnny. Johnny became a massive pile, hugely pretentious. Naturally, he became more and more of a scumbag as he got older. I’m sure Dollins character isn’t far from Johnny’s. That being said, I like skating, and will luckily never have to deal with Dollin as an actual person. I can appreciate his skating and also appreciate my own personal growth, reflected in my changing opinion of a skater I admired as a kid.

I owned a Dollin baker deck that was a neckface graphic. Even neckface is pretty cheesy to me now as an adult, but great memories with that board

What an arrogant moron, imagine being that consumed with yourself and what you've done on a skateboard 15 years ago. Talks about living in Paris for skate spots but doesn't skate. Third wife should run for the hills clearly..."Baker 4 part" lol

There is no individual in skateboarding I dislike more than I do Dustin Dollin. I actually find Jason Dill less irritating and that’s a bold statement.

Probably the worst episode yet. Drunken dollin talking in circles about who knows what while crob half listens and farts out a 'yep' every 2 minutes. Kelly was the only one who seemed remotely interested. the keenan story was almost worth the 2 and a half hours
No fun allowed. Also get your phone out and film this for my insta edit. Also don’t breath too loud. Bitch.

Haha I know the people he is talking about at 31:00, the dude with the hooks instead of hands is a junkie sack of shit, he beat my mate in pool then said he owed him $50 for it. My mate told him to fuck off then the dude attacked him swinging his hooks at him, they went out the front of the pub and were fighting in the middle of the street like some Mortal Kombat shit and my mate knocked him out.
Dustin is lucky he is good at skating and got out of that place, all those people he knew are junkies or deadbeats at the pub talking shit and drinking their dole money everyday. He can get paid to do it on podcasts and skatevids instead.

Highly recommend watching as opposed to just listening. You get a better feel for the haggardness of the cunt.

do they address the fact that he's clearly a high functioning alcoholic?

Haha, I was thinking the exact same thing.  It’s pretty impressive actually.

He’s such a great example of that thing where alcoholics and drug-addicts stop maturing and just kind of stay at the same mental age they were when they started up their addictions.  He really did sound like a 14 year-old when he started talking about “real punks”.

I did like that he was a little more candid than a lot of other guests.

What’s the deal with him and rog?

he's the Shane MacGowan of skateboarding. if he stopped drinking, he would die instantly.

Haha funny comparison. My cousin told me he saw the Pogues play 5 or 10 years ago and Shane MacGowan was so haggard he could barely sing and didn't know the words to many of their most well known songs.

I often wonder if Dollin could still do many of his basic tricks these days.

None the less, whoever mentioned his part in Play:

i would imagine that has a huge impact on why he has been paid by baker for all of these years.  they are businessmen after all.
i don't want to link to the channel because is promotes athiesm.

Everyone should take this with a grain of salt, but this is why I can respect Dollin. He came from a very fucked up place and made something of himself.

I'll preface my following statement by saying that no one's going to like what I say, but SLAP never likes what anyone says.

You have to come from a place of privilege to criticize Dustin. I don't think anyone in skateboarding is incredibly well off, but if we can afford a $50 deck here or there instead of groceries, and have time to form a criticism from where ever you are instead of busting your ass for an income then you have at least a sliver of privilege. It's like forming a criticism on someone gives us a position of power or authority.

Maybe he should sober, or maybe he's one of the lucky few to do what he wants how he wants it, and we're stuck behind a glass screen.

Whose really getting swindled?

I'm just here to offer a different perspective, and I tend to like anti-heros. I think he's an anti-hero and his skating and contribution to skateboarding is nuts.

The interview dragged, but it had some gems. It helped me get through Christmas, what more can I ask for.

Can’t believe I missed this the first time I read this thread, hahaha.

I don’t know much, but I do know to never trust a man with hooks for hands.
