The way he gives maximum sass to security guards reminds me of Jim Greco during his bad boy days of baker 2 and 3.

The ollie over the subway entrance was epic, I think Im agreed that some angles could be filmed better.

From the interview about the film, all the slow mo and ya extra stuff is to attract people who are not skaters into the sensibilities of the skateboard lifestyle.

I back anyone practicing a look or artistic trope in their work. Would we rather have had TY EVANS film it with a drone?

Yeah except no one who doesn’t skate is gunna see this shit. They blew it.

Everyone talking about the filming and security guard shit but no one mentioning the fakie inward heelflip over the table, the perfect nollie bs flip over that black nyc hubba, THE FAKIE OLLIE OVER A BUMP TO BAR, the switch Ollie over that big ass road cylinder... and you could go on and on.

Talk about something interesting for once.
It’s 90% celebration and hype. The skating is good but it makes me not care when all his buddies act like he won the super bowl with every trick. If he were humble about it, i’d like him much more.
Shave his part down to 3 minutes and i’m in.

That's really not true. Most of my housemates and friends who don't skate, who are are all trendy as shit, have seen at least parts of it or know exactly what it is.

is the LA triple set trick staged? They bolt cut a chain? security does nothing after getting assaulted. i feel like if I grabbed a guards bike like that I would get maced. hella people standing around watching. The make shot has nak(a movie star; mid 90s) pushing the security guard out of the way in the foreground as TJ rolls up for the make. the shots too perfect and seems fake. with nak and jonah hill in the mix a permit to shoot there seems possible.

This sounds impressive on paper but the moving construction is basically still and he taps it. That nollie flip is contentious too.
That switch tre at the end of Blessed is sloppy as hell too. I think he’s good but I’m not blown away by what he’s done this past year.

There’s a video of Na’kel being a ginormous piece of shit to some security guards and (female) school administrators in some video from this year or last: He doesn’t deserve any respect whatsoever or anything skateboarding related after that shit.

Method acting for his movie role.

I loved it.

Probably favorite video part since... i don't know, Kareem in Trilogy?
I could see the emotion and when the Bob Dylan song came in.. man. Heavy.
Skated in the city mostly.. hard to skate stuff with all types of shit to deal with.
Theres a ton of reasons why i like it so much.. but its mostly just feeling that doesn't
read right when typed.

this part is good, but i still don't think it's SOTY worthy. He had maybe 4 minutes of footage total this year, including instagram clips. Other dudes, like Milton, had like, 45 minutes of footy, including shit he should have died on. That gap to lipslide is just as hard as nollie flipping the street gap.

it doesn't sound impressive it is. calling the nollie flip contentious disproves your point, of course a trick like that is controversial

Great part ... not soty worthy imo, but the profit able to be made off cross promotion was probably too much for Phelps to pass up ... and the filming was fucking horrible, I mean Jesus Christ there were at least 3-4 tricks that are so much gnarlier in person than the angles lead you to believe
