Don’t skate to be good, skate to skate. This is skateboarding not basketball.

Why the basketball hate though? Do you think everyone who plays ball wants to go to the NBA?

If you start at an age like 18 + can you become pro level theoretically?
It depends on what you consider 'really good'.

Is a kid that has 50 trendy tricks but looks like a drunk baby giraffe when he pushes 'really good'?

I thinks the media aspect of skateboarding is a young persons game,  but you can get good at anything if you do it consistently everyday

I think so. It depends on what you want to do.
I think anyone can skate at a high level at any age.

I’m 41 this year I never had a more fun in skating and it shows. Sometimes people tell me I get the session cracking off.

Nothing is impossible, the impossible just takes a longer time.

my point is basketball is a sport, skateboarding is an art.
