Slappy grinds on taller stuff
« on: February 16, 2019, 05:10:01 PM »
Hello everybody, as said in the title i'm a fan of slappies done on stuff taller than a curb, like ledges and hubbas.
Post footage if you are too. I can only think of jkjhnsn but i don't know how to put links and hopefully everyone has seen his footage.
Cheers!

At what point does it cease to be a slappy and become a wallride?

Sorry if I just blew anyone’s mind.

Exactly. Such moves are still magic but they are not slappies.

when does something stop being a wallride and become vert skating? sorry bro but that wallride was too high and is basically megaramp skating. I think if there’s a grind on the top of it it’s okay to call a slappy.

A wallride into a grind doesn’t SLAP though but yeah I’ll still call it a slappy and also awesome.

it kind of does in order to get your weight on top of it to grind. wallrides your weight doesn’t get transferred up top like that - they’re more like carving.

I don't know if slappy is the correct name, however i mean when you grind an obstacle bashing your wheels/wallriding it rather than ollieing on top of it.
I'm from Italy so i may write weird sentences or terminology.
Cheers!

I like this slappy talk with Jason Adams, and both slapping onto tall stuff and slapping into slides rather than grinds are mentioned.

anything over a foot high into grind or slide, is a wallie. it is basically wallride but there's no such thing as 'wallride grind' it goes from slappy grind to wallie grind.

i mean a wallie in the traditional sense to me is usually going up and over something, not staying on. people do shit like wallie 5050s up and over on blocks etc but if you're bashing up the side of it and getting on top i'd still consider it a slappy imo. just depends on spot/trick selection.

wallie 5050 if its from the back of the ledge. slappy grind if its done from the side of the ledge, no matter how tall.
