For real? Just sized up to an 8.75 and am considering trying a 9.
[close]

Yeah go for it dawg I rode 8.5-8.75 for a long time and I moved up to a 9 a couple years ago. It was kinda weird at first but it actually improved my flip tricks a lot, I think it just feels safer having a wider surface to catch tricks

Word, thanks. You might catch me with one in the setup thread at some point.

Depends on what you skate, but honestly 8.38 is a pretty universal board size to me.

Generator runs multiple types of 8.125 shapes including one with longer wheelbase and one with shorter wheelbase. For a while the one with shorter wheelbase was my perfect deck, but for some reason I could never skate the one with longer wheelbase despite it also being a 8.125, I guess due to me being short in height but still it's weird as it's the only instance I can recall where wheelbase would actually fuck with me (I usually try not to think too much about specs), and throw a lot of my tricks off. Sometimes I'd accidentally get the wrong deck and feel like shit missing every other trick for two months, then as soon as I'd get the shorter one again everything would be back to normal like said two months never even happened.

I resolved the issue by switching back to 8.25 only to realize I liked those even better than the shorter 8.125's, and all the Generator 8.25's I've skated all had that perfect shape type of feel to me too to the point where I just trust them unconditionally now.

This. ^^^ Completely.

I went down the exact same rabbit hole with Generator other woodshops wheelbases 8.125-8.25 all that. I actually thought 8.125 was my sweet spot and I kept buying them and my tricks were off I was stacking old decks at my shop buy size one day to make recycled deck furniture and noticed my Primitive P-rod was a tad bigger than the rest in the 8.125 stack and low and behold I remembered that that was all they had at the local shop that was shouting out to me that day and it was in fact an 8.25 and I'd forgot. I had bought a Scumco and a Palace in 8.125 and both just felt off, turns out the Scumco was not Pennswood and the Palace just felt too stiff and narrow so I kept going back to the P-rod eventhough it was totally razored it just felt better, checked the wheel base and it different than the others too so yeah lil shit can really fuck you up.

I like 8.25 but with a Wheelbase of 14.3 or higher and a length of 32 or higher. It seems hard to find that unless it is 8.5 width or higher as well =/
Gravette pro models from Creature are my go-to at this moment.

8.5x32  with the 14.25 wb is my fave too, ps stix do a great shape in those dims with real square kicks. I've had boards from quasi, wknd, habitat in this shape, and seen the same shape on the GX1000 website. Thought I had found an FA that shape until i tried to skate it, was too steep and had 14.5 wb, it sucked.

DLX/Generator 8.28x31.625 w/ 14.125 WB is sick. Forget the nose and tail dimensions.

35th North uses an old DLX shape that is 8.25x31.75 w/ 14.19 wheelbase and is great.

I’m going to Seattle this fall and I’m looking forward to picking up a 35th north shop deck. Hyped on those dimensions, especially if the 8.5” wheelbase is that short

I'm on my 3rd. I'd buy more if they did 8.125. Last super long, fairly flat, but the perfect nose/tail concave.

Dope. I’m skating an 8.5 passport deck with a 14.5 wheelbase now. Felt a little heavy at first compared to the 14.25 wheelbase I usually skate, but the added stability of that 1/4” feels nice.

a slap favourite no? I've got one sitting on ice that I'm thinking about setting up now because of all the love that shape gets on here. What do you particularly love about it?

The short wheelbase makes the front of the board feel super light, but the width gives you more space to land. Popping tricks feels effortless compared to a longer wheelbase, and much more comfortable than a narrower board where that wheelbase is common.

I have two “perfect” sizes depending on what mood I’m in. Although I’m kinda new since I’m just getting back into skating after about 20 years off of a board. Been back about six weeks now. I have a Polar 8.625 with a 14.375 wheelbase and a Creature 8.8 with a 14.5 wheelbase. Regular Indy Stage 11’s on the Polar since it has pretty mellow kicks and the Indy forged hollow trucks on the Creature for two reasons. It’s a heavy deck since it’s made by Dwindle and they use resin instead of glue and it’s got pretty steep kicks so the shorter height of the forged Indy’s, 53.5mm vs 55mm for the standards, help with pop on that deck. I don’t know if there is a perfect set of  dimensions for every type of skating. I started with an 8.25 Creature (steeper kicks again) with thunders and couldn’t get comfortable on it. If I throw a set of standard Indy’s in there that might change. Yes I’ve bought and put together 3 boards in six weeks lol. Adult level disposal income is something I wish I would’ve had back in 1996

I mostly ride 8.125" decks. Had a few that were 32" long and it felt too long for me. I wear shoe size 7,5. My last few decks all had 14" wheelbase and I liked em a lot. They were never longer as 31.625". I've seen a anti hero eagle deck which was 31.75 long but I can't find any info on the wheelbase. Maybe someone here knows.

8.125, 14.25 WB, 32-32.375" length, big square nose, and decent sized tail (not tiny like FA).  Steep kicks but with a mellower medium concave.  Too mellow though, like .34-.375

Quasi's 8.0s hit these exact specs other than the fact that they are 1/8" narrower.  Their 8.125s are only 31.75" long with a 14.125" wheelbase.  The 8.125s have a smaller tail than the 8.0s do as well.  I find Thunders and Ventures to have too long of a wheelbase for the 8.125s but they work perfect with the 8.0s.  Indies and Aces work well on both sizes.

I'd love an 8.12 DLX Full SE with a 14.25 wheelbase.  Their 8.06s are WAY too short for me at 32.5"/14" WB.  Their 8.25 Full SE is fucking fantastic but I'd love it in a 8.12 as well.  Generally I run 8-8.125s with 8" trucks for my techier setups and 8.25-8.3s with 8.5" trucks for my heshier setup.

It's not like 8 and 8.125s are a big difference in width it'd just be a little nicer.  I find the extra 1/8th of an inch in board size compared to my truck size allows me to flip the board quicker, the board feels a bit more comfortable for my size 11.5/12 foot, and I don't destroy the axles and nuts nearly as fast as I do when I go equal or larger in truck size.  This is the board I use to learn most of my flat ground tricks on so it's landing primo a ton.

8.3" x 31.85" x 14.35" WB

It was an old Lurkiville shape, and a true 8.3 (none of this .353" / .375 / .38 nonsense)

So I’ve absolutely fallen in love with the shape of Quasi’s 8.0s.

8.0” x 32.375” x 14.25” and the kicks are super full but not insanely squared.  The kicks are fairly steep as well unlike a lot of their other sizes and it has a fairly mellow concave.  The tail is also longer than all of their other shapes.

Now if only they took these dimensions and scaled it up to an 8.25 and also an 8.5.  All of their wider boards with 14.25” wheelbases are shorter (32.125 usually but there’s a few 32.25s), all of their 8.0” x 32.375” boards have 14.375” wheelbases, and all of their boards have tails shorter than their 8.0s unless they’re 33” long with a 14.5” wheelbase.

They do offer an 8.375” x 32.25” x 14.25” shape that seems very similar though.  I’ll be ordering that next but the measurements I’ve come across make it seem like it has a much shorter tail.  If those numbers are wrong and the only difference is a tail that’s .125” shorter than I’ll be very happy... although I will notice the difference even though it’s so small.

Look at this fucking shape, it’s gorgeous and so comfy.  The shape is perfect for Thunders or Ventures but it’s still Indy/Ace friendly (although I’d go with one of their 32.125” x 14.25” shapes with those as they have a smaller gap between their kicks and bolts/baseplates).

I’d also love to try this dream shape in BBS or Chapman wood.  This 8.0” Quasi is my first PS Stix deck and I’m digging the pop, weight, etc. so far but I’ve noticed it dents and chips easier than other decks I’ve owned.  That might be placebo though... maybe I’m over analyzing the board or skating it harder than usual.

https://imgur.com/a/8117Owi

If anyone happens to have both an 8” and 8.375” Quasi I’d love to see side by side pictures.  Also if anyone has an 8” and an 8.25 x 32.375” I’d like to see that as well.

I'm still searching for the perfect size id say.

My favorite deck though was a Baker 8.125 x 31.5 14.25wb

The kicks were very mellow and with the 14.25 wheelbase it made the kicks shorter, which helped the pop not to be weak.

Right now i'm on a Chocolate 8.375 x 32 14.41wb and its quite steep, which is nice at times.

Someone here got me hyped on Primitive's with 14" wb. On a 8.125" now and a couple boards away from 8.25"..
I prefer longer tails too if you got that info handy
Bonus points for full shapes

Anyone know of any more 8.25's with sub-14.25" wb?
Polar
Antihero 8.28"
Santa Cruz 31.8"
Darkstar wordmark pricepoint (hey it's cheap)
Alien/Habitat?
Zero?
newer Tumyeto?

Pretty easy to find a 8.375-8.5" with 14.25" wb but might be worth making a list
Dwindle
Alien/Habitat? Think habitat's site says 14.25
Quasi? Plan b? Numbers?

Sub-14.25" would be the real unicorns? I'm interested in these
Tumyeto?
Alien?

I don't really look at +8.5" popsicles but the Alien 8.75" with 14.25" wb is interesting.
Anything else in the 8.625-9" range with 14.25 or shorter wb?
