Mark Oblow, is arguably a pivotal and important figure in skateboarding. However why is he pushing “sk8boarding”

He supports Jason Jessee, so you're right: he's a kook.

I'd argue that Mark Oblow is just as forgettable as what's his face.

I probably never would have put a face to this name I would see in magazines once in a while back in the day, if it weren't for Dylan.

I’m struggling to see where feelings were hurt.

Clearly I asked a question,it wasn’t loaded.
It was sincere; why is Mark Oblow using “8” instead of “ate”

Met him a couple times and he always seemed pretty decent, sincere, and talented (both as a filmer and manager). He comes across as pretty corporate which is probably what is rubbing people the wrong way.

What is the story behind this dude?

I know he started Vita shoes, but I don't really know much more than that.

Nothing dude has had a hand in has been successful besides the fact that he mentor'd Dylan.

*One could (and should) make the argument that Dylan didn't need Oblow to blow up.

Color Skateboards, Prime Skateboards, I think he shot photos in the early 90s. Ran the skate program at Quiksilver I think, if not it was Billabong, both the same thing really.

oblow made a total tool of himself when the jj thing happened with the most pathetic whiny instagram posts. dude had his tongue so far jessees ass it was embarassing as fuck. it read like a overdramatic love letter from some ex that can't let go. "i will always be there for you and love you forever, omg <3" and stuff like that.

he can't be a total kook i guess, but that was the only thing that made me even react to anything that dude ever did. ok so he was tm at all these companies, like gravis. it's not like being a tm is this super fancy job all the time. and all that shit folded, too.

*One could (and should) make the argument that Dylan didn't need Oblow to blow up.

absolutely. i mean oblow didn't tell him how to skate or dress. if anything oblow was the one who profited off dylan and/or the connection/friendship. i mean that without disrespect or implying any intent on oblows part in exploiting dylan rieders popularity but it's a fact imo.

One good thing he did was tell Dylan he was going to hold his checks back from Gravis unless he went to rehab or got clean one way or another. Which helped motivate him to do so.

Mark Oblow shot some iconic photos over the years. Worked with the greatest skaters, hawk, hosoi, roskopp gonz, danny way, dill, etc, and was family to Dylan Rieder. Shot big name celebrities and musicians. He skates. Hes a positive dude. Jealous haters be hating.

Thanks for filling me in, but I what I meant to say is why do we have a thread about him right now? I know that he has been a part of skateboarding for a while, but why do we currently have a thread about him?

Are we just making random threads about random industry dudes? Should we start one about Don Brown or Hugh Boyle as well?
