Grippiest wheels?
« on: March 18, 2019, 01:30:02 AM »
What are the grippiest wheels? Ideally, I want them to be flat spot resistant and under 60 mm too. The reason I want grippy wheels is to wallride higher. If the wheels are grippy enough and you have enough momentum, then I think you could go way higher because you'd stick to the wall... especially if the wall has a slight incline and is also grippy. Then you wouldn't powerslide off the wall as easily.

I never rode OJs personally, been a Bones STF fan since they released it. But, I've tried my buddy's OJs around a bowl and they felt terrific. Very grippy - felt comfortable pumping hard without hesitation of slipping out.

Bones ATF Tough Riders.
They won’t flatspot because they won’t slide. They will tear and chip if you try.

But fuck they grip and give a smooth fast ride.

Bones are usually very grippy. Go for coloured ones, they're usually softer than withe ones due to the dye...

The softer the wheels the grippier they get a lower durometer is grippier... I think the grippiest I've ever tried are the ATF All Terrain Formula Bones but they're cruiser wheels and only come in 56 and 59 mm. Tried STF honestly I dont remember how grippy they were but I could easily powerslide them as opposed to the ATF ones which dont slide at all. I also know that Rictas dont grip good.

super grippy wheels and wallrides seems like a bad combination. usually theres some powerslide action involved and if your wheels stick on the wall you get dumped off. seen this happen before to a friend doing wall rides with a filming board with soft wheels.

Welcome Orb specters are much more grippy than I prefer.
I would think the mini logo 90a wheels would be grippy.
I think OJ makes something similar to that too.

I was riding F4's forever and recently grabbed a set of OJ Elites. Wheels are super good. They're grippy but also slide when you need them too. I'll be getting another set.

The Mini logo 90a are super grippy. They don’t budge a bit trying to slide

I have a pair of those 56mm on my rain day board.  They work great on slick, wet blacktop.  Pretty cheap too.

i recommend either union or slimeballs wheels

best to go to ebay to see if anyone has any NOS ya dig

you'll probably pay upwards of 100 bones for them but totally worth it for that ultra grippy smooth ride, know what i'm sayin fellas? i've personally found that the slimeballs with the extra slimy looking graphics don't grip as well. but i think they like meant for that to happen

I don’t understand why I’m the fuckin slightest u want soft wheels for a wallride. Getting out of the wallride is EASILY the hardest part. Getting up and staying on the wall doing distance is far far easier, it’s getting it back that’s fucking miserable. It’s almost impossible to kickturn out of a wallride, so I find the best way is to keep the toe in the pocket, and give it that little bit of shove/powerslide from that toe, like when u do a backside 180 powerslide and lift the front wheels on flat. Keep practicing those back 180 powerslide son flat in like a manual, and u will be A ok when u learn how to get up and ride.

If u want grippy wheels for something else though, it’s a no brainer between ATFs and OJs.
