I listened to this whole thing at work today in hopes that he would talk about why he stole Ed's paycheck from TV and then kicked him off his own company. Was never brought up. Only talked about how awesome Ed was and never addressed that he stabbed him in the fucking back. Funny that throughout the interview he mentions not caring about money too.

Weird how people are hung up on some paycheck bullshit when Ed was like 20 and Mike 22. Ancient history from the guy who kicked Chris Senn of Toy Machine.

The Chris Senn thing, while lame can be chalked up as a mistake that many company owners have made. Mike V stealing Ed's check is not even comparable.

I started watching this in 0.5x speed to make it a 10 hour video, everyone sounded drunk and stoned, it was entertaining.

Then I sped it up to 2x speed and everyone sounded coked out, red bull fueled, and overly caffeinated. I don't remember anything anyone said. Punk rock?

The whole time I was looking for that video of Mike V launching into a vertical ramp and knocking it over and riding down it. I think it was in an old 411. I never found, but I learned Mike V once freed Muska from a bunch of security guards at a Vans event because Muska said fuck.

No shit it’s not comparable. Would you rather lose a paycheque or get sacked? I've got a 4 hour train trip lined up this Friday so the timing is perfect!

You'll either love this or hate this episode but the Ed/ TV beef has been squashed a long time ago and if Ed has forgiven him why are you all so hell bent on holding that grudge?
We as a skate community have forgiven way worse shit than that and while Mike V. has gone through tonnes of kook phases I'm almost certain he's not the same person as he was when that happened ...

Well said. And they need a part 2. Element stories, Black Label, Elephant etc. Yep, kook phases and ego for sure, but still intersting for skate history. Animal Chin, World Industries, Black Label, Element, Black Flag etc it is pretty fucken amazing. Ha - they didn’t even talk about that stupid blue “look at me” helmet.

Surprisingly easy 5 hour listen, he is a great story teller even though it was pretty self-congratulatory and he left out some of the not so great parts of his career. Would've like to hear him talk about Ed and Element era but I guess that would've been another couple hours added to the show.

Pretty crazy he has blown all his money when he must have made a lot from all the different things in his career

Just finished listening to it and I enjoyed it. The first 2 hours seemed to be about his first 2 years skating. His black flag story was pretty interesting. Totally forgot about that. I was shocked to find out that Powell gave him a 10 year contract. Even back in the days I would have never suspect that.

a comment complaint about Crob is that he doesn't do enough research / ask good questions - and while there might be an element of truth to that, I feel people underestimate the host. Interviewing people aint easy, the people that are good at it are talented. And of course preparation is important, but equally as important is creating the right atmosphere - allowing the guests to relax and tell their story. My impression is that the 9 Club is getting better and better - they have done some tremendous interviews of late, barring the 1010 fiasco, but that was a rare mis-step. I though the 5 hour Mike V was top notch. Keep 'em coming.
