Moving to Denver

  It is looking likely I'll be relocating from MI to Denver. After googling, it looks like there are really nice parks and shops. How are the cops about skating as transportation? And am I safe to assume there is some insane hill bombing to be done there? Thanks in advance for any advance info, and I'm really psyched for this.

hmmmmm? from MI to CO let me ask do you have triple the income? the spots to live as in Capital hill area Colfax Ave are "hipster trash" if you have decent money and a plethora of income you do you. It was around 05' to 09' it was decent to live there within a minimum wage since the weed legalization it has tripled the rent.

Skating cops aren't too worried about shit, just not down 16th street mall. Parks there's a plethora of parks that gives the NW a run for it's money. If you can try to find a place outside of the city Golden was cheap and close to the mountains.

There's plenty to skate and DIY spots for sure checkout 303 boards, they've got you covered without kook weirdo bullshit, if you see any of those WETBOYS guys punch in the dick and focus their board.

yeah it started with Ernie Torres Angel Ramirez and a few other decent recognized skaters, the joke was a porn ad phone line with a dude that very oddly looked similar to Mike V. at one point someone photoshopped a picture of Mike V on a couple flyers looking super sexual. It did seem to be getting a little overpopulated when i moved away though so the cost of living may be different now. skating is pretty good there though in terms of cops. I did quite a bit of street skating while i was there and the only time i ever had a problem was on 16th st mall, and even then if you skate fast enough youre good down the whole time, not to mention the free mall ride that takes you from one end to the other. Only reason that even mattered to me was cause i lived on the east side of the city and d park is directly on the other side of 16th st mall. Lots of super good parks there, probably two team pain parks for every park built by someone else. definitely worth the move if you ask me, just be ready for stupid amounts of traffic

I was living on Colfax in the apt complex behind good times burger across from Argonauts liquor.

Eventually I found a basement space below the Wetboyz house, my exgf was a shit person who cheated constantly while I was at work.

well ill start with max garson rides for emage. They just put a video out within the last three months made by a dude that has a part. emage kills it. they do all kinds of events. I also recall them doing some sort of skate school in the summer with a bunch of donated boards to give to the kids. all i ever got when i went into 303 was a dude trying to sell me rictas when i had already asked for spitfires. It all has to do with personal preferences. if you wanna go somewhere and spend $303 to get a free deck 303 is probably your shop. That said the only events i went to in denver were either put on by emage or skatecolorado

I use to be friends with a few guys in Denver and Boulder area they were snowboarder/skater types they had a wooden bowl in a warehouse, called the Fallen bowl they've moved since then but they also had a shop called Thrifty Stick had that Welcome newer shapes and whatnot it was rad they had a miniramp as well it was off Broadway away from downtown it was a trek but definitely worth it. 303 boards to me they had thunder and foundation TumYeto boards, at least that was around 05' to 09'.

Every shop in the USA is mostly stuff you can buy a zumiez because zumiez sells pretty much every brand in the industry. Unless you are a hardcore numbers fan, wtf do you buy thats not available at zumiez?

Also, the shop where I'm from in Michigan (plus) gave boards at $500, so getting a free board at $300 is a step up from that. And an even bigger step up from not getting a free board at all.

I miss the place and the scenery however, it’s best to do it’s own thing. Too many memories and it sucks.

i live in CO and saw a "real" juggalo for the first time in like 7 years last week. they got mostly priced out after weed was legalized. also to OP (if you haven't already moved) denver skating is sick lots of good parks and street spots, but if you want "insane hill bombing" then you'll have to head to boulder but that isn't far at all

Denver is sick, I spent a week out there a couple years ago. If you skate tranny, you'll be in heaven. They have amazing skateparks, a really sick backyard DIY scene, and a great indoor warehouse. I think we hit 8 skateparks, 5 backyards, and the Rosy bowl in 6 days. I'm lucky though and have good friends out there that were the best tour guides.

Do yourself a favor, and get a spot in Golden or Lakewood.  The train goes the whole way to Golden from Union station downtown. Golden Park is amazing.  Co springs has couple good parks. Basically feels like the PNW with parks in every little town.  D park at sunrise is pretty damn good too. Bench trains there too. Tons of autoracks.  Boulder is where my heart is, but when I went back to visit in the spring, meta wasn't there anymore. Nederland park. Wait, here's a link for you.

Hill bombing in Denver is weak AF. Its on the plains, not very hilly. SF is the real deal, Cali is better in general for hills. Take a chance in the foothills on those roads, still weaker than SF but you risk getting hit by a deer or elk.
